This is video #13 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. Link has reached the Dark World's second dungeon, the Swamp Palace, in the southern part of the world. Nothing to do but head in. Immediately, there is a telepathic tile to the northeast with advice from Sahasrahla.

At present, there is no way to progress. Link must head outside and use the Mirror to visit the Watergate in the Light World (time 0:39). He has to drain the pond with the upper-right switch in the second room.

Then, he returns to the Dark World (time 1:12). The water has been drained here, as well. Inside, the water now fills the channel at the entrance. He can now reach the exit to the west. Defeating the Hovers reveals a chest with a Key.

The locked door leads downstairs to B1 (time 1:56). The southern skull pot has a key. After blasting the west wall to the north, Link can find a chest with the Map.

The locked door to the south leads to a room with a Stalfos and Baris (time 2:55). The north door in the empty water channel leads to a pot with a Key. The locked door leads to a switch. Pushing it west turns on the water and fills the channel.

The west exit from the previous room leads to a large central room (time 4:19). The dungeon treasure is on the center platform. To the south, Link can go around. Pushing the lower block reveals a chest with the dungeon Compass (time 4:56).

Back in the central room, Link takes the southern exit to the west (time 5:20). Through the northern door in the water channel, there is another skull pot with a Key.

Back in the central room again, he uses the Key to go through the northern door to the west (time 5:59). After hitting the color switch with something ranged, he can hit the water switch to fill the nearby water channel. He should raise the blue barriers again before leaving.

Past the water channel, he exits west (time 6:59). Link can wade through the water in the channel here. A little west, to get past the blocks, he can push the lower block aside and the middle block up.

The stairs lead up to 1F (time 7:29). To the north, he first falls down the eastern hole. If the orange barriers are down, he can exit east to collect the Big Key. On the western side, there is a chest with 20 Rupees.

In the central room, Link collects one of the most interesting treasures in the game, the Hookshot (time 9:30). This item allows Link to grapple to many things from far away. It has been used in many later games in the series.

Grappling to the east, he can get a Key. From the center platform, he can grapple to the northern exit and get to the door (time 10:21). The switch under the northwest pot must be held down with the statue. Two doors open. Link must go through the northeast one, through the hall, and down the stairs to B2 (time 11:09).

These stairs conveniently put Link in position to flip a water switch and drain B2's waterways. A narrow waterway is to the west. To the south and east, chests contain 20 Rupees apiece.

The northern exit from the narrow waterway leads to a larger one (time 11:53). To the east, Link can go through the next-to-last water stream to reach the stairway.

The stairway leads to B1 (time 12:37). To the south, he will find a water-filled waterway with Hovers. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that the Hovers can be damaged. The current flows west. On the ledge to the east, a needed Key is under the skull pot.

To the west is a locked door (time 13:41). After the hall beyond, Link will find the dungeon boss, Arrghus. The Arrghus is a massive jellyfish with smaller jellyfish called Arrgi clinging to it. At first, it will send them spinning around. Not very threatening. The object is to pick off the Arrgi with the Hookshot and slash them to death. A single sword spin will take each Arrgi out. Charge the sword, pick off an Arrgi, and spin.

Arrghus's other attack comes when all the Arrgi are defeated. It will hop into the air, land with a splash, and then skitter around the pool diagonally while trying to hit Link. When it is struck, it jumps and repeats. Performing a spin attack near it as it lands seems effective.

When Arrghus goes arrgh, it leaves behind a Heart Container and a crystal with another of Agahnim's victims (time 15:26). She points out that other warping points exist throughout Hyrule.

Thanks for watching!
