#1103 Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2) Unplayable Characters (5/16): Jax playthrough.
A playthrough of the unplayable character Jax in the PS2 version of Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Deception.
Jax returns, going from a hidden character to an unplayable. He’s pretty much entirely ported from Deadly Alliance, only missing his special moves (which weren’t that great in the first place, truth be told). I liked him back in Deadly Alliance and I sure as hell still like him here; Jax is an absolute beast with a hard-hitting Muay Thai fighting style, and a pair of tonfa which easily allow for air juggles. That Judo moveset of his is still pretty useless (in my opinion anyway), but that doesn’t matter because he can deal out damage and he can knock back his opponent with ease, making him perfectly playable in this game. After a while you really start to wonder why certain characters weren’t just made into bonus characters or some such, what with Blaze and Mokap not having fatalities in Deadly Alliance, yet still being perfectly playable. Too much effort, I guess, especially when they needed oh so necessary characters such as Dairou and Kobra.
Overall, no complaints about Jax whatsoever, he’s still brilliant here.
