#1111 Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2) Unplayable Characters (13/16): Smoke (solo) playthrough.
A playthrough of the unplayable character Smoke (solo) in the PS2 version of Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Deception.
Check my quads.
Smoke is interesting for all the same reasons has Noob was; a low character value, a unique portrait, using Smoke’s alternate outfit as his default one, and even having the announcer say his name. It seems like they have prototype ideas for the characters worked out, before combining them together and using the prototype outfits as their hidden costumes.
I took no shit this playthrough, as you could probably tell. Smoke’s moveset would be pretty useless, were it not for the fact that he has two extremely quick combos: (square, triangle, triangle) and (square, triangle, cross). These do decent damage, but their main advantage is just how ludicrously quick they come out, usually catching the opponent off-guard or actually countering them while they’re in the middle of one of their own moves. Smoke is weirdly viable therefore, even as a half-finished character, but anomalies like that are one of the most fun things about these videos, I suppose.
The last three characters to cover are quite interesting, as they’re all deviations on pre-existing characters. Next time, we’ll see Shujinko, but looking much more youthful than before.
