#1113 Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2) Unplayable Characters (15/16): Ghost playthrough.
A playthrough of the unplayable character Ghost in the PS2 version of Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Deception.
Liu Kang’s back. And this time, they don’t have a ghost of chance.
Ghost is just Liu Kang’s human spirit, seeking to fight and defeat his evil zombie self. We actually saw him in the ending of the Liu Kang video I did, though for some reason I misremembered that this was a zombie version of Liu Kang but as a ghost, hence why I picked the human Liu Kang back in that video. That said, eh, I felt that was still worth it. If you’ve been following these videos, you’ll have seen more than enough of zombie Liu Kang for one lifetime by this point.
Ghost appears in Konquest Mode and is a part of the story there, though I won’t spoil how. He is quite literally Liu Kang, but ghostly and without special moves, which makes playing as him pretty pointless on the whole. He has a unique model, unique name, and that’s about it. Nothing else to him, really. Ghost is so based on Liu Kang that he even keeps his moveset, though isn’t able to use any of the specials, like all other unplayable characters. Hell, the announcer he calls him “Liu Kang”, and he gets the chance to execute fatalities, not that he can use any. All in all, yeah, a pretty superfluous character, and one who I can understand as to why he’s not playable.
Last up, finally, it’s the last unplayable character to look at. And goddamn if he isn’t one of the weirdest of them all.
