#1105 Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2) Unplayable Characters (7/16): Kitana playthrough.
A playthrough of the unplayable character Kitana in the PS2 version of Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Deception.
Another hidden character returns as an unplayable. I said before that different unplayables had different degrees of being finished, and Kitana is a great example of that. She seems really bare bones here; missing most of her moves, clunky inputs, only extremely basic combos at her disposal, and her fan blade attacks have really jerky animation. The fact that she’s missing her Fan Wave attack only serves to make playing as her that bit more frustrating. And she’s missing her portrait, like Sonya was. Luckily, she does retain her fan blade combos, so it’s not the end of the world. Also, despite her combos being quite simple she does some ludicrous damage with them, with one combo for her second moveset (triangle, triangle, cross) dealing 26% damage with ease. Despite being basic, well, Kitana ends up still whooping ass once you find which of her decent combos from Deadly Alliance remain. She was damn fun to play as here, as you’d probably expect for from Best Girl, and of all the unplayables she really should have come back as a hidden character, particularly because she gets captured and controlled by Onaga in this game, which makes the Onaga fight here all the more special. Luckily, they bothered to rectify that in Unchained. All in all, a pretty fun, and certainly competent playthrough.
Up next, we see the other side of Raiden.
