Here is of my full playthrough of Prehistorik Man done, as always using original hardware on a Super Nintendo with no cheats or save states!
Follow me on instagram @Cabin_game_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES collection on their starting settings, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.

-That sly Fox at Titus Software is up to its old tricks again delivering another quirky & highly original platformer that ticks many of the boxes for great game but somehow falls short of the system classic marker!
I certainly thought I'd had my fill of Neanderthal platforming antics after two recent appointments with Joe & Mac and its sequel, however to its credit, despite surface similarities, Prehistorik Man is very much its own game & a really good one too.
Though dressed in usual platforming attire, it's quick see this isnt the typical experience with many levels offering a new dynamics having you often completing tasks before finding the exit. Its varied too, which helps given the mammoth 23 levels your required to beat, no passwords either so it's another long 'one sitting job!'
With a healthy share of 1ups and much of the gameplay mastered with a slow and steady approach, you'd be forgiven for mistaking the gameplay as casual. Trust me, there are numerous places where your life stock will be savaged quicker than you can say Triceratops! I'm always wary of platformers have stages where you have to ride machines and Prehistorik Man proves no different with the 'Wheel Ride' stage proving one of the gruelling experiences I had in some while! I won't even mention the first Ice stage for fear of snapping my phone out of bottled up rage!
Bosses aren't a great deal better either! The middle one is a bastard, plain and simple!
Given the task its nice Titus decided on the strangely generous number of 16 continues. More can be purchased in the occasional shop alongside a SAVE function that only works while the game is running so still requiring the game to be finished in one sitting! Simply offering Infinite continues would have been a less confusing way to do things.
Fundamentally, a platformers most important aspect has to be control! Titus have left themselves down here in the past (Ardy Lightfoot 158#, Incantation 118#), this time it feels really well balanced. It's true the skid mechanic is a little loose making attacking enemies frustrating at times but I've played worse.
A decent play but a long one!
