A playthrough of the hidden character Julia Chang in the arcade version of Namco's Tekken 3.

Yeah, this didn't exactly go well as a playthrough. Julia is Michelle's adopted daughter and, well, she's a bit boring here quite frankly. The next time we see her will be a bit more interesting, at the very least.

Julia acts as Michelle's soft reboot replacement, and she's a bit on the dull side for my tastes. While there are quite a few moves from Michelle's moveset that I liked (such as that leaping stomp amongst others), here I just really couldn't get a hang of her. Her moveset, I felt, worked a lot better with the stiffer controls and stiffer movesets of the first two games. Here on the other hand, so many other characters have much more fluid moves and personally speaking it just seems to me that Julia's been left in the dust a little. As always, these are just my reactions and thoughts on the situation.

I do find Julia a bit on the dull side, it must be said. It's probably because she's a bit more stereotypically Native American, and doesn't seem to be quite as defined as Michelle was, how little that actually was in the first place. She's never been a character in this game who I particularly enjoyed, but she does have some decent moves. If you can pull them off, that is. Her df+2 is a sort of throw, which will then allow you to press 2 again to launch the opponent into the air. The only problem with it though is that, through incorrect button input, it will lead to you utilising a different move instead. This leads to something of a problem where you have to be somewhat muted and cautious in your inputs, which is a problem as people with more responsive movesets can take you out rather easily. I found her probably the trickiest character in the game to utilise, with even newcomer Xiaoyu having an ace up her sleeve at the very least. Not a character I ever particularly cared for, and that hasn't changed in some 20 or so years.

Next up, a Jack character finally makes a return.
