#690 Tekken 3 (ARC) Hidden Costumes (1/2): Jin Kazama (School uniform) playthrough.
A playthrough of the hidden school uniform outfit of Jin Kazama in the arcade version of Namco's Tekken 3.
There's a lot of time-released elements to this game. We previously saw one with Anna Williams as a secret costume/character for Nina, and here we see two more. Two of the new characters, main protagonist Jin Kazama as well as his (sort of?) love interest Ling Xiaoyu, are given school uniforms as hidden costumes, to add to that extra animay kawaii desu desu factor which people seem to like for reasons entirely unbeknownst to me.
So this is the first Jin playthrough I get to do, although funnily enough the subsequent times I'll be covering him will all be fairly different. He's definitely an example of the soft reboot's growing pains, where for several games they just weren't sure what to do with him, typified in particular by the appearance of his Devil form in his ending in the PS1 port...only for said Devil form to take 6/7 years to finally be implemented in a game. Namco are slow as shit when it comes to idea implementation, it must be said, but you'd already know that from Kazumi.
Jin, as the offspring of Kazuya and Jun, rather hilariously has a mix of both their two movesets, having the Mishima uppercuts and spiral uppercuts, as well as Jun's 1+4 combo and a few variants of it as well. He honestly feels less than the some of his parts in my opinion; Jun's moves work as a result of her agility and her dexterity, not to mention her incredibly easy launcher move (f+2). Trying to utilise Jin as a combination of Kazuya and Jun can be quite tricky, bordering on frustrating, given that the two movesets (one being kinda slow and bulky, and the other being quite agile and nimble) don't seriously compliment one another all that way. This does get significantly better in later titles, at the very least.
Anyhow, this is just a video for the sake of thoroughness, as many are. It's perfectly fine I guess, nothing too special, and like many other aspects of this game just a nice bonus for its own sake. Jin's a good character, but he definitely took a little while to get into his own.
