Recently we’ve been infatuated with a French speaking indie game developer that goes by the pseudonym “Wonderboy Bobi”.....a reference to the modern-retro style of videogames that they make in the vein of the Sega Master System.

We discovered Bobi thanks to his excellent, and grossly under appreciated action game, Tanuki Justice, but then we played Aggelos and we were so impressed that we knew that we had to review it.

Aggelos is a side-scrolling action platformer very similar to the latter WonderBoy games....i.e. a metroidvania. The graphics and music, at first, seem like a straight forward 8-bit experience but soon you find that modern technology has ramped up the old formula to new heights with screen filling, well animated sprites, and numerous tweaks and improvements to retro gameplay.

I love these kinds of games and I think that you might too.
