Why make an effort to convince your opponent to cooperate when you can instead storm his headquarters, intercept him before he escapes and then simply beat him to pulp with a big stick? For one thing, it sure gets the Legion's attention. To be fair, though, Caesar's Legion is not nearly as chaotic as my second character. They generally abide by some very strict (if arguably twisted) moral principles, and are intent on imposing their own hierarchies and social norms on humanity rather than, say, just burn everything to the ground.

I think many players are reluctant to view Caesar's Legion as anything but the de facto "evil" faction of New Vegas, but personally I'm interested in learning more about their underlying ideas and how these inform their unquestionably brutal actions. One has to keep in mind that an important underlying theme of Fallout is the pessimistic and inherently conservative worldview so succintly expressed by the tagline "War...war never changes", and with that in mind there might be a bit more contextual sense to the Legion's rigid and pitiless moralism than is readily apparent. Also, that the mighty Caesar himself seems to have a suspiciously relaxed attitude compared to his underlings is also cause for further investigation.
