An Indie, Open World, King’s Field like RPG – Dreamspring Demo – #01
Dreamspring is an Indie, Open World, First Person, Exploration focused Action RPG that feels like a faster playing King’s Field.
Fun.
Feels like a Faster Playing King’s Field?
Yes!
The movement in Dreamspring is fast, as is the combat, feeling far faster than old King’s Field’s glacial combat pace.
Additionally, unlike King’s Field, you have a jump here, which combined with your dash, gives you excellent mobility.
Dreamspring has Dark Souls like RPG Depth:
There are 6 meaningful character attributes present: with 6 points awarded on lvl up; letting the player sharply customize their character as they battle their way through the open world.
Strength: Melee and Bleed resist
Dexterity: Gun damage and jump height
Vitality: HP, movement speed, poison resistance
Intelligence: Magic
Will: Mana reg, pot potency, elemental resist
Faith: Mana pool, item find, alchemy bonus
This is in sharp contrast to King’s Field, which limits you to increasing HP, MP, and strength / magic power damage as you defeat enemies.
Dreamspring seems to be far more influenced by Dark Souls in its RPG character progression, which I see as a big positive, as it allows much more player choice.
Controller Support is present, as is good old Mouse and Keyboard.
As a First Person RPG, I found it felt best with Mouse and Keyboard, so that is mostly what I used above.
Note: This is an early look at the demo for Dreamspring, so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, Dreamspring is an Indie, Open World, First Person, Exploration focused Action RPG that feels like a faster playing King’s Field.
Dreamspring is easily worth a wishlist and a watch.
