Castle Doombad is an original tower defense app that I should have recommended you weeks ago. The reason is: Castle Doombad is different than most other Tower Defense games and most of the other gaming apps out there. Publisher of the game is Adult Swim, who already published two or three other crazy apps. Castle Doombad is available for iOS for € 2.69. An Android version does sadly not exist.

In Castle Doombad you do not play on the good side, furthermore you take control of the bad Dr. Evilstein. Dr. Evilstein imprisons a lovely princess in his dark castle. In best Dungeon Keeper-style heroes try to infiltrate the castle and to free the princess and it is your job to stop them! You have to place traps throughout the cast to hinder all incoming knights. For example: A thorn-trap is rather uncomfortable for the heroes and a crossbow trap can cause heavy damage from a distance. Or what about a nasty acid trap which drops onto the floor? In the game you can use automatic traps, living traps but also manual traps that you have to trigger with a tap. To place your traps you can simply drag them from a menu bar at the bottom of the screen to the desired position. Providing that you have enough energy. Because you need energy in order to buy new traps. You receive new energy with the help of the Princess, cause a strange invention of Dr. Evilstein transformes every scream of the princess into pure energy. In addition you can build machines, which provide you with more energy.

Castle Doombad offers you 45 levels. The later levels do not only provide more and stronger enemys, but also more floors for your castle. Between the levels you can upgrade your existing traps or purchase new traps. In addition to the normal traps, there are also some special abilities which you can use to attack the opponents. These special abilities can be activated via buttons at the top left of the screen. Unfortunately, these skills must be recharged via InApp purchase, if the inital stock is depleted.

My conclusion:
Castle Doombad is a very original and funny app. Levels and traps get more and more challenging the further you play and it is a great fun to play on the bad side. Castle Doombad is amust-have-title for fans of tower-defense-games. It is without a doubt one of the craziest, but also one of the most original games of the genre. How do you like Castle Doombad?
