Rocket Robo is undoubtedly one of the positive surprises of the week. Bad Kraken Games brings us out of nowhere a thrilling casual puzzle game that arranges well-known ideas in a clever way with an intelligent level-design and fancy-graphics. The best thing: Rocket Robo is available for little 89 Cent for iOS, and for 84 Cent for Android.

In Rocket Robo you are in control of a small robot in space. You have to guide your little robot-friend through 57 levels in 3 themes. By tapping on the screen your little robot can fly upwards in the air. By tilting your device you direct the little guy to the left or right. And with a wipping gesture up or down, you can move the robot into the depths of the level, or bring him back to the front. Your task in each level: Collect as many stars as possible and reach the end of each level. Of course, this is harder than it sounds, because there are lots of obstacles between you and the level-end. You should expect rotating blades, exploding mines, boxes and dangeours thorns. Furthermore there are teleporters and the world can be turned upside down with switches. Additionaly the levels have been built like little labyrinths. So its not too easy to find all hidden stars and to reach the level exit. Rocket Robo differs from usual casual puzzle game by two things. First: The graphics. The levels are designed very imaginative and feature lots of details and a fluid 3D-Look, thanks to the Unity-graphic-engine. And secondly: Rocket Robo manages to bring you well known ideas in a fresh new way.

So there are this two levels of depth, in which you move your robot backwards and forwards. These layers are not only responsible for some nice graphic effects but also for some intelligent puzzles. Furtehermore: Riddles with switches aren't anything exceptional in many games nowadays. But in Rocket Robo they feel fresh. For example there are switches which turn the whole world upside down. The gravity moves boxes to another place, so that you suddenly have completly new paths to explore.

My conclusion:
Rocket Robo is one of the most original puzzle platformer of the last month and maybe in the App Stores in general. The controls are simple, the puzzles original and clever and especially the good graphics contribute a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Rocket Robo is designed with lots of charme and attention to detail. Who likes puzzle games should definetly try out Rocket Robo. Have you already played the game?
