Threes is one of the most exciting new games of the week. Trade press and users helped Threes to reach the number one spot in the App Store within a very short time. The original puzzle game even managed to get fantastic app store ratings, mostly 5 from 5 possible stars. Wo what is so special about Threes? I will tell you in this review. Threes is available for an introductory price of € 1.79 in the App Store. Unfortunately Threes is only available for iOS, and not for Android.

In Threes everything is about the number 3. When the game starts you find a partially filled playing field in front of you. There are some fields with numbers on it. The rules are as follows: You can add a 1 with a 2 to get a 3. Two 3-fields can be combined to 6. Two 6-fields to a 12. So you can keep up doubling the numbers. It is important that the numbers are lying side by side, otherwise you can not combine them. You move the playing fields with a simple swiping gesture. Gradually there come new 1s and 2s from the sidelines onto the playing surface. When all fields are filled and you can't combine anymore numbers, the game is over. After the game over all numbers on the playing field are added and you get a final score. The higher the numbers on the playing field, the higher your highscore

My conclusion:
Threes is just awesome. The game idea is simple and original at the same time. The game is easy to control and the high-score hunting addictive. All the time one is trying to achieve an even greater number of combinations. Furthermore you continuely improve your playing skills. For example: During the beginning of the game you ignore the preview of the next number field at the top of the screen. After a few days you integrate the preview field naturally into your plans and you achieve three-digit numbers with ease. The title shows in an impressive way that you can earn money with a game that is specially designed for touchscreens and that has no InApp-purchases. What do you think of Threes?
