Army Men 3D - PS1 - Intro + Mission 1/2/3 - (1999) - PlayStation - Retro Nostalgia
Today we're looking at the Intro FMV and levels 1 - 3 in Army Men 3D for the Sony PlayStation. Release Date: 1999
This is probably one of the most nostalgic PS1 games for me. I never beat it but my friends and I spent many a sleepover trying. This is my first time picking this up in a couple decades and It was really a blast from the past.
It seems pretty bare bones by today's standards. The frame rate kind of sucks, the controls are janky, the enemies are hard to see and there's no crosshair so the questionable auto aim is all you've got. But there's a primitive charm to it I just can't explain.
Maybe it's because I'm old enough to have played with actual plastic army men growing up but I just love this game.
I'm determined to finish this bad boy so I'll probably upload the rest of the game in chunks like this one. Then put them all in a full game vid at the end.
I am pumped to see what the rest of the missions are like. I know lvl 4 has the first tanks and I remember there being more weapons like the flamethrower that had a cool plastic melting animation.
Hopefully I wont be expected to do much vehicle combat because the driving controls on the jeep were abysmal lol
I did some minor editing to this video, mainly cutting out all the load times and improved the audio a bit.
Do you have any memories of this game? Please share in the comments below I love reading that stuff!
Thanks for watching!
