In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, we'll be playing the Mage with an Arson focused strategy! Mage is a character who in my mind climbed from zero to hero, and it was with one simple realization: his skill casting takes way too long. Back in the day I didn't realize what his issues were and just wrote him off, and even further didn't realize how to fix him. Once you figure out the wonders of Manatech 3 though, it opens up a lot of possibilities for Mage. Suddenly he isn't stuck in place for 8,000 years when casting one ability, and mobility is everything in the Dark Mirror. Other than that, Mage is good at most archetypes, but the chief ones are Ability Spam Items and, of course, Arson, which is the focus of today's episode. Arson was never a bad inscription, but it hasn't always had the best items. However, in one of the random updates between the Dark Mirror and the Myths DLC, they released a bunch of buffs to many of the Arson items. This sent it from a good but still ultimately held back archetype to one of the more consistent status builds, and with the release of enhanced inscriptions now there is nothing holding back Arson, and it's one of the best of them all. The main premise around Arson is applying it as often as possible, because when you apply new burn to an enemy that already had it previously, the duration of that previous burn "ends", which procs Arson 4. If you have Cursed Live Embers, it also procs this, which can lead to massive explosions constantly happening. Then, even further once you can enhance your Arson, the more times you can apply burn the more you can proc the effects of Arson+, leading to fireworks in your game essentially. The biggest downside to this build is all of these explosions sadly make it hard to see what your character is doing, which makes it hard for me to recommend this build to newer players. If you know what you're doing though, the results speak for themselves. So, that's today's goal, Mage with Arson+! Joined by Alchemist, can this duo of pyromaniacs set the Carleon kingdom ablaze?
