Continuing to pursue Sage Roberts' trail, Edward sails to Principe. However, as he approaches the island, his ship is attacked by Portugese fleet. Upon defeating them, Edward makes his way onto the island, eventually being confronted by Roberts himself who reveals that Princess was ran aground by its captain while he tried to escape the pirate attack, resulting in Portugese soldiers massacring part of the crew while taking others as prisoners with Edward explaining that the pirates in question were Templar agents Burgess and Cockram who did it on purpose, hoping to make their capture of Roberts easier. Realizing that he cannot hope to escape Templars on his own, Roberts enlists Edward's help, asking him to track down and kill Burgess and Cockram before they can depart Principe in order to prevent them from reporting his escape to the Templars in West Indies. Edward agrees to do so, hoping to earn a favor with him and use it to find the Observatory. To that end, he kills both Templar agents before returning to the beach where he finds Roberts, now wearing the ship captain's uniform, holding a speech for the remaining crew of Princess who chose him as their new captain. After Roberts finishes, Edward asks him about the Observatory with Roberts revealing to have taken a liking to him and agreeing to help him if he meets him two months later.

In September 1719, Edward meets Roberts on an island called Misteriosa and is told to meet him on another location...
