While going towards Charles-Towne to meet up with Ed Thatch, Edward encounters Stede Bonnet who has decided to take up a life of piracy on his own, having been inspired both by Edward's example and his experience while serving under Thatch. Two men wish each other luck in their future exploits before sailing their separate ways.

Upon reaching the bayou near Charles-Towne, Edward finds out that Thatch has taken several residents of the settlement hostage aboard his ship and has tied them up on its masts as both warning and bargaining chip for the settlement's medicine, having also learned that a standoff between Thatch and Charles-Towne has been going on for approximately a week without either side showing signs of letting up. Knowing that Thatch's solution won't help them source the medicine, Edward decides to infiltrate Charles-Towne by himself and get the medicine, doing so by following several British soldiers through the bayou and eventually killing their commander within the town itself. Upon returning to Thatch's ship with the medicine, Edward asks if he will return to Nassau with Thatch saying that he plans to head further north, towards North American eastern seaboard in order to plunder enough money to retire before his 50th birthday...
