I can tell just how exhausted I was when I named this one, because it took me way, *way* too long to realize that "sheep" rhymes with "peep". I literally spent 20 minutes trying to think up some kind of a pun having to do with "lambs" and "perverts" and this one just ended up dropping in my lap after I stopped focusing on it.

Compared to last time, this session was a little more balanced when it came to both story progression and sidequests. Even if it seems like I'm aiming for a completionist run this time around, I'm effectively going to go out of my way to avoid reloading saves if I end up missing something. I feel like a substantial amount of time was wasting on that kind of thing. But because I'm trying to avoid reloading previous saves, I just want to be as thorough when it comes to searching for sidequests as possible. If only because it seems like the hidden ones are more likely to contain references to the previous game. Weird decision, I know... but the amount of continuity between "FC" and SC is probably one of my favorite aspects of the trilogy so far.

But honestly, that's a double-edged sword. I'm beginning to think that's why it feels like I'm taking my time on SC compared to the first one. No new settings have really shown up in SC yet, it's pretty much all just been revisiting areas I saw back in the first Trails in the Sky. It doesn't help that this is apparently the longest game in the initial Sky trilogy... and my self-imposed deadline to finish this game up before Trails From Zero's English release makes my progress feel even slower. At this point, I have to wonder if getting that "three BtLO recording week" I've been eying will actually feel like progress... or if it'll just make me feel like one of the sessions went to waste. As weird as it sounds, I think part of the problem stems from what I know about the soundtrack. SC has roughly as many pieces of unique music as the first game did, yet I've barely heard any of it yet. For some reason, I've had a tendency to associate music with time since childhood... and I guess this is just another example of that weird mental quirk.

I really need to work on my banter again. I guess I could probably excuse the dead air by saying I'm "just resting my throat between story segments" or that I'm "so enamored with the gameplay, that I'm forgetting to say anything". I mean, neither of those are lies. But they still feel like weak excuses. Even if it means coming up with topics to discuss ahead of time again, I've got to keep my patter going next time. Part of my problem is that most of the other Falcom-related topics that are popping into my head would definitely be putting the cart before the horse: I'm already itching to write another blog speculating on what's coming next from Falcom. Talking about what I'm expecting to see from the developer in 2024 and beyond... while playing one of their games that was released all the way back in 2006 feels wrong, you know?
