Bacon Candy is SOOOO Much Better than Candied Bacon! #shorts
This was a request I jumped on immediately!!
I love candied bacon, but I’ve never tried Bacon Candy… and this was the perfect blend of crispy bacon with a maple bourbon candy coating… it’s an easy one if you have a dehydrator, and a must try!
Ingredients:
• Thick cut bacon
• 1/3 cup maple syrup of choice
• splash of Bourbon
• a dash of Cayenne
• a handful of toasted crushed pecans, about 1/3 cup (you likely won’t use it all!)
Instructions:
1. Grab your thick cut bacon, and place in onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Then place it into a cool oven, and set the temp to 350°F.
2. Let the bacon cook for about 15 minutes, the time may vary but you essentially want the bacon cooked about half way!
3. Remove the bacon when it’s halfway cooked, then pat it dry to remove the excess grease. Then you can transfer the bacon to a rack for your dehydrator and let it cool slightly while we make the glaze.
4. The glaze is simple, just combine the maple syrup, bourbon, and cayenne in a bowl and whisk/mix.
5. Brush the glaze on each slice, and be generous here!! Then we can top each slice with some of the toasted pecans.
6. Place in the dehydrator at 165°F and let it go for about 8 hours. I like to check every 1.5-2 hours for excess grease rendering off the bottom, and Pat that dry. I also recommend checking after 6 hours to see if it’s done. The texture should be firm and when bent it should snap.
Enjoy this incredible snack that’s my current guilty pleasure 😂
