I used a Loaf of Croissant Bread to make the ultimate Caprese Sandwich!! | #shorts
Im working on my inner sandwich artist… and im hooked!
This croissant bread was the perfect addition to my Pesto Caprese sandwich. I bought this bread… but now I really want to try and make it! Let me know if you want to see that attempt… which will most likely fail lol!
Ingredients:
- Croissant bread
- Pesto (homemade or store bought is fine)
- A handful of baby arugula
- 4-6 oz fresh mozzarella
- Cherry tomatoes cut in half
- 4-6 pieces of julienned sun-dried tomatoes
- 2-3 cracks of fresh ground pepper
- 1-2 tbsp butter, melted
- Sesame seeds for top of the bread
- 5 fresh basil leaves
Optional:
- Artichoke hearts (I forgot to use!)
- Balsamic glaze - great but not needed!
Instructions:
1. Start by preheating the oven to 350F, and while that comes up to temp prep the tomatoes and slice the bread in half.
2. You can toast the bread, or not, either is fine! Place the the bottom of the loaf down, spread on the pesto, top that with the arugula, then the fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, and finish with some fresh cracked pepper.
3. Melt 1-2 tbsp of butter, and brush that over the top bun, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top, and place in the oven on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes. I also like to broil for 1 minutes or so with the top bun off at the end!
4. Carefully remove the top bun if you didn’t to broil, then place on a few fresh basil leaves and put the top back on before slicing!
