After completing the Unseeing Eye quest, Nalia has reached Mage level 12 and gained access to Level 6 spells. This grants her access to the powerful Mislead spell which I recommend learning. We will also need to ensure that Nalia has learned the Feeblemind spell before progressing.

The next questline we'll tackle is the Umar Hills, which we began way back in episode 2 when we recruited Mazzy. But before we go to the Umar Hills, we head to the City Gates District, to pick the Daystar, a weapon which will make short work of the Shade Lord. This longsword does extra damage against evil and undead enemies and grants one cast per day of the Sunray spell. The Sunray spell does 1d6 damage per level to undead with a chance to destroy instantly. With Keldorn equipped with Daystar and Darksbane equipped with a sling with Sunstone bullets, we engage the Shade Lord. While Jaheria and Nalia lower the Shade Lord's saving throws with Doom and Greater Malison respectively, Darksbane attacks the Shadow alter. A successful strike with a sunstone bullet will destroy the altar in a single hit and a successful Sunray spell will destroy the Shade Lord instantly, making short work of this encounter. The Sunray spell will also instantly destroy the 2 Liches you need to defeat before defeating Kangaxx, however, note we are not ready to take on Kangaxx himself at his point, just the 2 prior liches.

With the defeat of the Shade Lord, Darksbane reached Cleric Level 11 and gained access to Level 6 Priest spells and with that, we are finally ready to take on Firkraag, the red dragon. I recommend tackling Firkraag once you have access to Level 6 spells across all spellcasters because Windspear Hills will scale with your level when you arrive and you are rewarded with an excellent weapon upon completing the quest line.

When we first arrive at the Windspear Hills we are immediately entered into combat, which can be difficult because we have no summons or buff active. This is a perfect opportunity to showcase the new Aerial Servent spell. Aerial Servant summons as an invisible creature, it becomes visible once it makes it's first attack, and hits for 4d8 + 11 damage. Summons have increased Hit Points on Legacy of Bhaal difficulty so they are particularly useful at tanking damage. However Aerial Servant does have a long casting time of 9, so we'll complement it with a Silver Horn of Valhalla that can summon much faster. The Berserker Warrior will fall quickly but it will tank long enough for our Aerial Servant to make it onto the field. Once the Aerial Servant has the aggro of the enemy forces the fight becomes simple.

However, that's just the first test of the dungeon, next we have the Golems in Firkraag's Maze. The Iron Golems are particularly challenging, but luckily they can't get through small doors. The Clay Golems can only be damaged by Magical Crushing Weapons, Fire, or Acid Damage and the Stone Golems can only be damaged by +2 weapons. Jaheria and Darksbane can provide magical crushing damage from the Gnasher and Flail of Ages, so we'll buff their THAC0 and APR before having one party member bait the smaller golems away from the Iron Golem. Once the Golems are defeated, the Orcs in the room ahead can be softened up with a Choas spell from across the hallway, before a hasted party can run past the Iron Golem into the room ahead.

We are presented with Samia's sidequest, but I personally would recommend ignoring it for now and coming back once we've gotten the weapon from defeating Firkraag. Instead, progress ahead to the Wolfwares where we'll showcase Nalia's new Mislead spell. Using Mislead Nalia becomes invisible and can cast her spells without breaking invisibility. This allows Nalia to advance on the Greater Wolfwere and cast Lesser Resistance and Greater Malison to lower Magic Resistance and Saving Throws respectively. Once the Greater Wolfwere is vulnerable, we can follow it up with a Domination spell, causing the wolfweres to attack each other. The Greater Wolfwere will defeat his own minions, allowing the rest of the party to tackle it while isolated.

Once we get to Firkraag himself, we can employ a similar tactic as we did with the Wolfwere. Summoned Fire Elementals will be ideal for holding aggro as they will be immune to Firkraag's many fire attacks. Also, ensure that Nalia is equipped with the Amulet of power for Vocalize as Firkraag will attempt to silence Nalia. We have Nalia cast Lower Resistance twice then follow that up with Greater Malison twice before casting Feeblemind. If successful Feeblemind will completely disable Firkraag allowing the rest of the party to attack in safety and secure victory.
