Bravely Second Session 18: Sing For Absol-Yew-tion
By defeating Yoko, we have unleashed the beasts that represent the Seven Deadly Sins. They should probably be tamed, and also, the Yokai's Diabolism command literally has nothing if you don't fight them, so let's just go ahead and do that.
All these bosses are actually returning enemies from the Norende reconstruction thing in Bravely Default, scaled down to a more reasonable level in this game. Other than that, they work the same way. So let's get to it!
Asmodeus, manifestation of lust, likes to inflict status ailments. Lust can inflict Charm on everyone, and Venomous Bite can inflict several ailments at once on a single target. He also likes to cast Thundaja and remove party members from battle and release them at some random point. Beating him grants access to Thundaja and Lust.
Beelzebub, manifestation of gluttony, is pretty easy to deal with, at least in my one attempt. The guide I referenced says he makes you weak to fire so he can spam Firaja, but I don't even remember that happening. His big gimmick is Gluttony, a special status where he'll absorb all damage for several turns. Normally he follows that up with Acid Breath, which lowers your defenses to 75% (even if they were maxed out at 150%), but if you "overfeed" him with damage, he dies. Beating him grants Gluttony and Acid Breath.
Belphegor, manifestation of sloth, has the worst gimmick of all. He absorbs all damage types except his weakness, and his weakness changes every time you hit it. At least the cycle is consistent: Fire, then Ice, then Lightning. You should really pay attention to your turn order, so you can be sure you don't heal him accidentally. He can summon three spheres as backup that all follow his gimmick, his Sloth skill will negate all your support buffs and stat changes, and leave you weak to every element. Then he and his spheres like to use Firaja, Thundaja, and Blizzaja. Beating him grants Sloth and Firaja.
Mammon, manifestation of avarice, isn't nearly so bad. Her biggest gimmick is her Avarice ability, which drains 1 BP from each of your party members. As long as you try to keep your BP at 0 or above so you don't lose a turn when she uses it, you should be fine. She also likes to use Blizzaja. Beating her gives you Avarice and Blizzaja.
Leviathan, manifestation of envy, cycles between two phases: immune to physical attacks, then immune to magic. Its Envy skill is similar to Sloth, but it lowers your attack and defense stats rather than leaves you weak to all elements. It also likes to use Consume Life, which is four random attacks that can instantly kill. Beating it grants you Envy and Consume Life for your own use.
Lucifer, manifestation of pride, likes to counterattack. He also likes to use Mow Down and cast Aeroja. This is where the build I'm using on Magnolia really shines: Utsusemi negates Lucifer's counter with a dodge, and dodging gives her BP back (Turn Tables) as well as an attack buff (Comeback Kid). Ideally, Transience would proc too, but you can't counter a counter. Aside from that, he uses Aeroja and Pride, which is similar to Envy and Sloth, but it raises his own attack and defense stats by 25%. Beat him, and gain the ability to use Aeroja and Pride yourself.
Finally, Satan, the manifestation of wrath. His deal is, he has Revenge, so every time you hurt him, he has a chance to gain BP. When he has extra BP, he likes to do a combo of powerful physical attacks. He also tries to make your party berserk, which means they'll spam physical attacks, giving him BP, while having lowered defense, leaving them wide open for the Two/Three/Four Blades wombo combo. Beating him gives you Wrath to make the enemy berserk, and Three Blades, which can hit all enemies for half their max HP, except bosses.
And with that, the Seven Deadly Sins have been bested, and the Yokai job is, for all intents and purposes, fully powered! Just to fill out some time, I decided to show off some of the costumes, although several are stupidly expensive and I'm not going to farm the money for them. The ones I didn't show were Yew's scholar outfit, Edea and Magnolia's bunnygirl outfits, the Washcloth, and the costumes from the first game. Oh well! Some things are best left as reader exercises.
