OSGeoLive is a standalone bootable DVD, USB U disk or virtual machine, based on Lubuntu , which allows you to try various open source geospatial software without installing anything. It is composed entirely of free software, allowing free distribution, copying and delivery.
Presented is the release of the OSGeo-Live 14.0 distribution , developed by the non-profit organization OSGeo in order to provide an opportunity for quick acquaintance with various open geographic information systems, without the need to install them. The distribution is built on the Lubuntu package base. The size of the boot image is 4.4 GB (amd64, as well as an image for virtualization systems VirtualBox, VMWare, KVM, etc.).
It includes about 50 open source applications for geomodeling, spatial data management, satellite imagery processing, mapping, spatial modeling and visualization. A quick step-by-step getting started guide is provided for each application. The kit also includes free maps and databases of geographic features. The graphical environment is based on the LXQt shell .
In the new release:
Updated to Lubuntu 20.04.1 package base. Updated versions of most applications.
New applications added: pygeoapi , Re3gistry and GeoStyler .
Added additional Python modules Fiona, rasterio, cartopy, pandas, geopandas, mappyfile and Jupyter.
Additional applications have been added to the virtual machine image that did not fit into the iso image.

Highlights for this release include: based on Lubuntu 20.04.1 'Focal'; new applications - pygeoapi, Re3gistry, GeoStyler; version updates to most of the included packages; the Virtual Machine edition now includes applications that could not fit into the ISO image; additional Python modules like Fiona, rasterio, cartopy, pandas, geopandas, mappyfile, Jupyter; improved documentation and four new translations, now supporting: English, Deutsch, Español, Suomen kieli, Français, Italiano, 日本語, Magyar; 100% translation to Hungarian and Spanish; improved Quickstart for OpenStretMap.

Version 14.0 of OSGeo-Live , which is available as a bootable DVD, USB stick or Lubuntu based virtual machine solution, has been announced. OSGeo-Live, which allows the user to try up to 50 preconfigured open source geographic software; a system that provides pre-configured applications for a range of spatial uses, including data storage, publishing, viewing, analysis, and manipulation.System providing pre-configured applications for a range of geospatial use cases, including storage, publishing, display, analysis and processing of data; is an OSGeo Foundation project. The OSGeo Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports Geospatial open source software development, promotion and education.
