Blackberry, Orange, & Chocolate Gelato recipe tutorial for Phantom of Venice
Not gonna lie, I probably spent almost as much time eating gelato in this game as I did actually solving the mystery. So using this video project as an excuse to try some? There was never any chance this wouldn't end up happening.
Chocolate Gelato
1½ cups Milk
3+ Tbsp Bittersweet or Semisweet Chocolate Chips
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/3 cup Sugar
1 Tbsp Cornstarch
Heat milk on stove until steaming. Stir in cocoa, chocolate, and sugar and continue to cook until well combined. Mix cornstarch with a splash of cold milk and whisk into chocolate mixture. Cook for another minute or two until thickened. Pour into a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until cold. Process in ice cream maker until set.
Blackberry Gelato
1 lb frozen Blackberries
1/3 cup Sugar
2 tsp. Lemon Juice
1½ cups Milk
1 Tbsp Cornstarch
Thaw berries and heat on stove over medium heat. Mash with a fork and continue to cook until the juices have been released, then remove from heat and strain out the pulp and seeds. Return juice to stovetop, add lemon juice, and simmer over medium for 8-10 minutes, until reduced by approximately half. Add sugar and cook until dissolved. Remove from stove and chill. Heat milk in a separate pot. Mix cornstarch with a splash of cold milk and whisk into pot. Cook for another minute or two until thickened, then remove from
stove and chill. When both milk and juice mixtures are cold, whisk together and process in ice cream maker until set.
Orange Gelato
1½-2 cups fresh Orange Juice (about 4-5 large oranges)
Juice of 1 large Lemon
1/3 cup Sugar
1½ cups Milk
1½ Tbsp Cornstarch
Orange Food Coloring
Bring orange juice and lemon juice to a simmer over medium heat and cook until reduced by at least half. Add sugar and cook until dissolved. Remove from stove and chill. Heat milk in a separate pot. Mix cornstarch with a splash of cold milk and whisk into pot. Cook for another minute or two until thickened, then remove from stove and chill. When both milk and juice mixtures are cold, whisk together and add food coloring. Process in ice cream maker until set.
