Bravely Second - 0 Exp / Low Level No Fort-Lune Part 1: Troll
People called it in the last two videos I shared, and they were right - I was doing a variation on the low-levelled challenge in the new game Bravely Second for the 3DS.

Is this challenge possible? I do hope so; anyway, here's the ruleset:
- 0 Exp
A familiar restriction. The characters stay at their base levels of 1/5/6/7, essentially making this run the equivalent of a lowest-levelled run, except this - you can actually engage enemies in random battles and not level up. Exists as an option in the settings that can be set on and off at will; no cheats necessary. A 0 Exp option seems to be common in FF-related gaming as of late, appearing in various KH titles, FF12 IZJS and the first Bravely game. Square is aware people play LLGs and actively encourages it.
- No Fort-Lune
BS's equivalent of Norende, more or less. Provides early access to some otherwise restricted features of the game. No Fort-Lune means no Special command usage at all, which seems like a severe handicap to enforce on a challenge. Attack Items cannot be bought either, thus we would have to farm them but...
- No Attack Items
...this is why we don't care. In boss battles with multiple foes, tossing a couple AIs (especially with Catmancer's skill) results in huge damage to everybody, whereas without it you'd go through the trouble of attacking them one at a time (maybe, definitely in C1) using less potent means. I'm sorta relieved I can't farm for them via steals and enemy drops.
- No Abilink / Friend Summon
Another online limitation. Abilink would give quick access to skills we wouldn't dare to try to rack up points for until way later into the game, while FS provides power outside the limits of the run.
- Hard Mode
Do I even have to say we're playing Hard Mode? We're playing Hard Mode.
Oh, and I reserve the right to opt against cheese strats, like the Ghost status and Bravely Second (not 100% sure how helpful that would be, but I imagine allowing it wouldn't quite play the game for me).
...
Now, the 1st boss of the game, Troll, is fought by Yew, our lv. 1 protagonist, and two temporary allies. The guests are inferior to the permanent units about to join shortly, so we won't miss them much. Janne is the best at attacking and his secondary class's skill gives him extra power for as many as 10 turns - enough to last a short battle like this.
This is a tutorial battle whose aim is to acquaint us with the Bravely/Default combat system. Troll will Brave 4 times in a row each time his turn comes, starting from the 1st one, and attack seemingly random units - the first time around, it seems like he'll land 1 attack on each unit, or it could just be the rigged RNG (definitely a thing in this and other 3DS games) - still a good idea to guard.
Troll usually doesn't survive the first two rounds of attacks from Janne and Yew (who wields Nikolai's Bishop Staff better than its original owner does), but physical attacks can whiff so I have Nikolai (who got Yew's Rapier) chip in for the 2nd round.
Players are unlikely to have a high-levelled Yew on a regular run with experience, so this battle is pretty much exactly like what occurs in a plain playthrough.
I have plenty more boss videos of this challenge on my hard drive, so expect to see a healthy dose of Bravely Second alongside other runs I've been sharing.
