Bravely Second - 0 Exp Run+ Part 21: Revenant, Janne 3rd, Anne
It's been nearly a month since I last uploaded a video that's not like 20 minutes or well above. Well whatever.

This video shows all three boss battles fought in chapter 4, an unusually short chapter (not sure why they wouldn't make them more even in longitude). As you can tell by the running time, the battles were short, and there isn't just one reason for that. Revenant has a really crippling weakness that can be exploited, Janne can be 1-turned and Anne is so dangerous that we absolutely need to defeat her fast or else we're done for.
Revenant's gimmick is possessing another character (ally or enemy) to greatly increase their stats because Rev's own stats are that high. He will first possess an ally but will later do this to one of our characters, which deprives us of one active unit and adds a great deal of uncertainty pertaining the success of our attempt. Some possessed allies are significantly more dangerous than others.
Cheesing Revenant involves the simple trick of using Undo HP (with a correct turn count) after he's either done possessing somebody or his victim just got defeated but before he's possessed somebody else, as he's unable to be targeted on such turns. The game apparently counts him as dead if you send his HP back to the turn when he was busy possessing somebody (as he's missing on the battlefield). So if you're lucky to use Exorcist's Undo HP on one such turn, the battle should about be over right there and then.
If not, killing off an ally with Blessing Mist active by using Hammer magic or smth should do the trick, or just try to outstall him. He's hot 75K HP so Meteor Rain would damage him very hard. It's a rare battle where Undo HP does stuff though, so I felt like trying it out.
Equipping Tiz for max physical defence should render him able to tank even the physicals coming from a Revenant fused with somebody else. Reflect on the party takes care of Thundaga and Stop spells cast our way.
The 3rd incarnation of Janne is p laughable on the other hand. He always does the stance change thing on turn 1 and he might as well die here too. I reclass Yew to join my party as the 3rd Spellcraft user (apparently a weaker one due to being lv. 1 with poor agility which must somehow be factored into Rain calcs too) and he adds just enough damage to KO Janne on the 1st turn with the girls doing most of the work. I better remember to change his role with Tiz should there be another time when I need 3 Spellcraft users. It's not magic but speed that's Yew's problem, methinks.
As for Anne, I was stuck on her for a while and she forced me to grind Revenant's job level up for Soul Mirror. Very unforgiving in terms of difficulty, and Patissier's secondary skillset on Tiz the tank doesn't help us stop her at all when she buffs herself up before slaughtering the whole party. The solution is dealing as much damage as possible before then, but it's not really an all-out-offensive strat because I'm concerned with survival a lot too.
Anne's extremely versatile and dangerous to us in more ways than one. I was surprised when I suffered a game over to her due to poison damage, but that certainly isn't the biggest danger here, I'm afraid. Full-party physical assaults are uber bad news but can be withstood as long as Tiz survives and there's Blessing Mist on the field to resurrect everybody else.
The first thing Anne is likely to do when the fight starts is create five illusions of herself. Only one out of six Annes is the real one and you're wasting turns and provoking counters by attacking the wrong ones. By putting a basic Wizard spell (they target all enemies) before the Good Measure'd Meteor Rains on my girls I circumvent the difficulty imposed by the Anne clones, eliminating all but the real one in a single action so that all 8 Meteors strike the right Anne. She will still initiate her counterattacks, hurting herself by attacking my units through Soul Mirror protection.
If all goes well, Anne should fall just after she buffs herself up to obscene proportions with no chance of surviving her next assault against everybody. Those Soul Mirrors really do pay off after all!
