And this doujin fighting series continues onward! We've made videos for a couple of the games (BS Dynamite, BS09, currently haven't done the oldest titles) and they were pretty nice doujin fighters, and now we're putting up a video for the latest game. While I knew about this one for a while (since the first version of it which had five characters), I waited for the game and fighting engine to be more complete. Now, a more representative version of the game has been recently released on October 25th and blogged about on the 26th (and it's "nerfed" compared to older versions, as in no outrageous combos, though a couple like Yumi still can manage to do a bit) and I felt comfortable putting up a video for the game.

BSM is a significant upgrade from past BS games; the characters have been redesigned and the visuals are significantly better for the most part. The fighting engine is more structured and less combo-happy, and requires a bit of practice if you want to pull of any sort of combos. Additionally, there is a cancel gauge (for guard cancel, burst cancel, etc.) and a danger gauge which will make a character temporarily defenseless when emptied; this is not to be confused with "dizzyness", as the character is only affected mid-combo and can't safe fall and such. If timed correctly, you can pull of combos you wouldn't otherwise, particularly corner combos, as a "Downed" character has different priorities when rebounding from things like "Wall" hits. You can even "parry" attacks by walking into them with the right timing like "Street Fighter III", though I haven't seen this mechanic implemented very well in Fighter Maker titles, though the computer can use it like crazy if you let them. This game takes getting used to if you've played the other BS games as it's not as loose in the fighting department; you'll only live so long just button mashing against a compotent opponent.

Each character has various different attacks and have different statistics, such as some having lower defense, higher speed, greater attack, faster recovery from attacks, etc. There are some returning favorites currently as well as various newcomers too. The game still has many stages from other versions and characters don't have voices, but I imagine this will be fixed in the future (as the characters had voices in BSD & BS09). I use Tao (Tao-Long) in this video; for some reason, I like her style even though I wouldn't call her the best fighter. This is a video of some stuff in the game.

Like all BS games to the best of my knowledge, this game is free. You can find it at:
