The first really hard boss in the challenge so far. I hear things get tougher from here eventually, so let's hope for the best.

Augus is hard. Unlike most other bosses, he moves twice every turn. His skillset is not that rich but his attacks are powerful enough to be a threat. He is able to attack normally, focus energy for a devastating attack (or two, if used the second time during a turn) and when his HP gets too low he may cure himself for 40 HP.

Finally, we have a party of three and Ryu no longer has to do things solo! We have Ryu/Baba, Katt and Rand. Let's consider their strengths and weaknesses. Ryu is a good attacker and is able to survive most attacks coming his way while at full health. Due to his position, he will be attacked by Augus more often than not. Katt is the best physical attacker but fragile due to low health. Rand is a tank and a white mage. He's got a lot of MP to cure Ryu and Katt when necessary (which is, every turn) and his ability Wake (which has a chance to revive a fallen character but fails too often) can be useful.

This battle represents BoF II's battle system very well. It's turn based and you have to think ahead and predict what the opponent will do. Here the boss's turn comes after Ryu and Katt, but before Rand's.

Rand's logically supposed to be the healer, but it's impossible for him to cure exactly the damaged character. However, I decided to just heal Ryu and was mistaken only a couple of times.

When the fight only began, Katt got one-hit killed with a powered up attack from Augus. I messed up here, thinking Ryu's turn comes after the boss and wasted a Herb. Embarrassing, but not fatal. I got lucky with Rand's Wake here and managed to revive Katt.

Augus has got 680 HP according to the guide I follow, and since the experience does not spread around the entire party, only one character should absorb it. In this case, it should be Katt, which, let's admit, is not the easiest way around, seeing how she gets one-hit killed so easily.

What we do is use a calculator to count down Augus's HP and when it gets close to 70-80 kill off Ryu and Rand and have Katt solo.

In a low level game your damage potential is low, whereas preparing for bosses requires you to have the best armour possible equipped. It is not surprising that characters can't kill themselves in such conditions, and in this video I have to equip inferior equipment so that only Katt remains alive.

Once she does (after some manipulation of the battle system and not completely without luck), she manages to finish Augus off on her own.

I am glad this boss didn't take too many attempts to defeat with Katt as the sole survivor, because if luck hadn't been on my side I would've had to repeat this over and over again.

I also gotta love the horribly translated lines at the end. He must be possessed by a demon, this is a mess, we must beat it! All your base are belong to us!
