Finally, the really fun stuff begins here. I like to think that Zog is the first endgame boss, as you have all 8 characters in the party at this point, loli Nina turns old and you can finally fly to any location. This essentially means we have access to the best stuff and are at our strongest.

Most importantly, Ox gets his Mallet hammer which destroys everything. 255 attack and effective against Dark enemies which is the type of enemies most endgame bosses are. Of course, he has the best offensive set-up with 2 Sash items (placed in the ETC field) and I did give him all my Strength potions (3 or 4, nothing worth mentioning actually).

Bo gets access to his best bow and is once again a welcome addition to our party.

My party for Zog is Bo, Ryu, Nina and Ox. Because of our EXP distribution, only the latter three must survive in the battle. I also have Karn in the reserves, just in case something bad happens. Both Bo and Karn need to be killed off before the battle is over.

To justify the choices of this team: Nina always goes first when casting a spell, allowing her to heal weakened allies before the boss's turn comes, and she can buff. With the armour that halves all elemental damage, she can survive the boss's deadly multi-target attacks.

Ryu is quite fast with his ultimate equipment and naturally takes his turn before the boss. He's a good healer, as he doesn't get the Emperor Sword yet, and Dark Dagger / Dragon Sword / Tri-Rang are all inferior weapons to what Ox and Bo are equipped with.

So yeah, that's why Bo and Ox are here. Ox can equip a Lava Shield and thus survive the boss's most powerful attack (fire-elemental attack, 180 damage to everybody). Bo can't equip a shield with his best bow (and I don't think he can equip a flame shield anyway) so he's dead gone when that attack is used. The same applies to Karn.

Ryu is immune to all elemental damage because he's equipped with the awesome piece of equipment known as the Earth Robe. I'm surprised no walkthrough mentions the location of this item because it's pretty valuable in an LLG (though I might well go without it, but it's nevertheless nice). The Earth Robe actually heals the target when not at max health, btw.

Zog has several attacks, most of each hit the whole party and some of which are magic. This makes it easier for Ryu and Nina to survive the battle, as they should, and Ox has enough HP to tank.

I think I did really well in this battle. Dragon Heart did 5K damage to the boss (the best you can do in this game?) and Karn killed just at the right moment.

The fun just begins here, though.
