버블 심포니

타이토에서 1994년에 낸 버블보블의 속편으로, 기판은 타이토 F3 시스템. 일본판과 북미판의 제목은 '버블 심포니', 그 외 세계판 제목은 '버블보블 2'. 차기작으로는 버블 메모리즈가 있다.

이제는 레인보우 아일랜드로 이어지는 스토리를 버린 채로 원점으로 회귀해서 다시 원작인 버블보블같이 버블 드래곤이 된 주인공이 비눗방울 쏘는 게임으로 바뀌었다. 게임 내 요소들을 보면 원작 버블보블의 벽은 넘지 못했지만, 여러모로 신경 쓴 게임. 특히 분위기가 무언가 속이 검을 것 같은 분위기의 전작과는 달리 메르헨스럽게 밝다. 하지만 버블보블 특유의 흉악한 난이도는 여전하다. 그나마 진행하는 스테이지 갯수는 70 스테이지가 채 안되므로 전작과 후속작과 비교해선 가장 쉬운 편. 실제로 진행하는 스테이지는 51 스테이지로, 월드별로 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11개의 스테이지가 있다.

내용은 버블보블 주인공들의 자식들이 하이퍼 드렁크가 봉인된 책을 읽다가 버블 드래곤이 되는 저주에 걸린 것도 모자라서 책 속 세계로 빠졌다는 내용.

캐릭터는 4명 사이에서 선택할 수 있으나 4인 동시 플레이는 불가능하고 2명까지만 동시 플레이가 된다.

모아쏘기 개념이 오락실 버블보블 시리즈 중에서는 여기에서 처음 생겼으며[3], 모아쏘기를 하면 방울이 동시에 3개 쏘아지는데, 캐릭터마다 어느 방향으로 방울이 쏘아지는가가 다르다. 단, 모으는 시간이 버블 메모리즈만큼 빠르지 않아서 잘 사용하진 않는다.

중간보스를 클리어한 뒤에는 분기가 있으며, 각 분기에 따라 다양한 스테이지들을 경험할 수 있다. 스테이지마다 숨겨진 음표를 3개 먹으면 열쇠가 나오는데 이 열쇠를 네 종류를 전부 모았냐, 모으지 못했냐에 따라 분기가 달라진다.

스테이지 중에서는 타이토에서 만든 다른 게임(다라이어스, 기기괴계 등)에서 모티브를 가져온 스테이지가 꽤 많다. 또한 타이토 게임들의 캐릭터가 게스트로 나타나는 아이템이 존재하며 이들을 조종해서 적을 공격할 수도 있다.

게임 제목답게 배경 음악들이 다 교향곡 분위기. 특히 메인으로 나오는 음악의 1루프가 역대 버블보블 시리즈 음악들 중에서도 매우 손꼽히게 길다.

참고로 이 게임의 해적판 버전 중에서 제목이 서울 심포니(Seoul Symphony)라는 괴악한 제목으로 바뀐 버전도 있다. 물론 제목만 바뀌었고 게임 내용은 완전히 같다. 기본적으로 사운드칩이 OKI6295로 다운그레이드된 버블 심포니 기반이다. 기판 사진 실기 구동영상

세가 새턴으로 이식. 또한 플레이스테이션2용 타이토 메모리즈 2 하권에도 수록.

플레이스테이션으로도 이식되려고 했으나 이식판 개발은 중단되었다. 플스 이식판 개발중의 프로토타입 iso 파일이 돌기도 했는데, 완전히 발이식이라서 출시가 안 된게 차라리 다행이라고 한다. 황당하게도 이 iso, 당시 복사CD로도 돌아다녔는데다 게임잡지에서 비기공략까지 올라갔던지라 진짜로 정식 발매된줄 알았던 사람도 꽤 있었을 듯. 미발매 프로토타입인 탓에 게임이 삐걱거리는 부분이 꽤 있었는데 이것 때문에 복사CD가 깨졌거나 렌즈가 손상된 것으로 착각한 사람도 제법 있었다고 한다.


프롤로그

사이 좋은 4인조, 버비, 보비, 쿠룬, 코론, 그 버비와 보비의 아이들이 다함께, 책을 읽고 있었어요.

"너희의 할아버지에게 받은 원한, 지금이야말로 풀어 주지!"

넷은, 마법의 힘으로 드래곤 모습이 돼 버리고, 이상한 세계에 갇히고 말았답니다.
과연, 원래의 모습으로, 원래의 세계로, 돌아갈 수 있을까요.

"복수의 시간은 찾아왔다... 녀석들의 아이들에게 지금이야말로, 한방 먹여 주는 것이다!"


Bubble Symphony

Bubble Symphony (バブルシンフォニー, Baburu Shinfonī), also known as Bubble Bobble II (バブルボブルII, Baburu Boburu II), is an arcade video game in the Bubble Bobble series developed by Taito in 1994.[1] While being a new Bubble Bobble for a new generation, it takes place after Parasol Stars.


Gameplay

For this adventure, Bubblun and Bobblun, the familiar green and blue bubble dragons, are joined by girls Kululun (an orange dragon) and Cororon (a purple dragon). However, they are stated to be the children of the Bub and Bob of the first game.

According to the intro, the four characters (as humans) inadvertently unleash Hyper Drunk, the final boss, while reading books. Hyper Drunk transforms the four into bubble dragons and banishes them to a new world.


Characters​

Bubblun (バブルン, Baburun) is the well-rounded character; he can fire three grouped bubbles straight ahead when powered up (the bubble button is held for a few seconds then released).

Bobblun (ボブルン, Boburun) has faster speed in exchange for shorter range. He can shoot three bubbles in a spread pattern when powered up.

Kululun (クルルン, Kururun) has the longest available range, but is slow. She can shoot her bubbles in a "T" pattern (forwards, backwards, and down) when powered up.

Cororon (コロロン, Kororon) has the fastest bubble blowing and can shoot her bubbles in an inverted-"T" pattern (forwards, backwards, and up) when powered up.

Although a sequel to Bubble Bobble, the game inaugurates few changes to the gameplay formula of that title. The small changes that have been made are that a boss is now encountered every five to ten levels, giving those scenes a similar prominence to Rainbow Islands, and the player takes a branching route through the levels by selecting one of two doors after every boss.

The players can now charge the bubble shot; if released when the dragon's horns or bow is glowing, he/she will breathe three bubbles at once, with the specific formation dependent on the character chosen. The players must collect certain square cards with music notes inside, in order to get the 4 keys that lead to the final world or face an early false ending. Also, the characters have to collect a rod to turn their characters from their dragon to human forms during the course of the game.
