BYTE: Part 2 (New power supply)
The Moldovan BYTE computer came with a 220V/50Hz power supply capable of 5V/1A output.
I would normally replace the electrolytic capacitors as a first step but part of the "charm" are the Soviet components.
And as the wall-wart style case is of no use I've decided I'll try to rehouse the power supply, in as original form as possible, in a new case but with an Aussie power plug.
Some of the components on the power supply:
[1] KT846B (KT846Б) NPN transistor in TO-3 case, equivalent to BU207
[2] K561LN2 (К561ЛН2) hex inverting buffers, equivalent to CD4049A
[3] Orange blobs ... assuming are diodes used for rectification
[4] "=AS7" (=AС7) ... no idea!
In the meantime, I've made a pair of cables to supply power from either my bench supply (using banana plugs) or a USB charger.
This is a pretty brief video - making the USB-to-DIN power cable is covered in a different video:

Next ... finishing off the RGB video cable and connecting to VGA via a GBS8200 board ... I'll finally discover if it actually does work ... ?
