Cathedral is a game that could be best described, when Shovel Knight and Castlevania had a Baby. So the game is a sidescrolling platformer, where you can go multiple paths and these paths open with new items you get and also the switches you switch.
So the first hour of the game was managable in the difficulty. The enemies got predictable attacks, so they are usually easy to dodge, but if they hit you, they deal a good amount of damage. Same goes for touching the spikes, which cause 2 hearts damage, of the 3 hearts you initially got.

So dying in this game is something that just happens. But you nearly don't lose any progress. The game kinda autosaves the whole time, but sets you back to the last checkpoint you touched. You also lose 10% of your current gold, which you don't get back. I saw in a shop, that you can get items, that reduces the amount of gold you lose on dying, so the number is variable.

Oh yeah, you don't see this in the video, but the Gold you collect can be used to buy upgrades for your character. Also you can place some of your money into the bank, which you don't lose if you die. The 10% Gold you lose on dying, is based on the number of gold you're holding.
