25-AUG-1984 Just off Trondheim, Norway
Our orders are to intercept a carrier task force sortied from... Trondheim?
We were intercepted by multiple NATO submarine contacts.
As these are Norwegian waters, we're expected Kobbens, Zwaardvists, and maybe some British Oberons, in addition to Yank nuke boats from Skipjacks to 688s.
First contact is in very shallow waters with sea floor at just over 60m away, and we did detect a Zwaardvis in the distance, but it seems it doesn't want to engage us either. I fired a torpedo to keep him busy, as I peeled off in a different direction. Even then, it took a while for us to get out of range while silent running.
We then got away from two other subsurface contacts.
Now, where is that darn carrier task group?
And the war continues in the next episode.
