With the prestige available from the previous mission, and sudden availability of a CAD, which is the Missile variant of the Constitution (or Enterprise)-class cruiser, I decided to trade up, and added the other stuff such as more marines, more missiles, more mines, and so on.

So what's our next mission? We're temporarily assigned to cover a starbase waiting for replacements of its normal garrison ships.

And suddenly we can see two freighters in the distance running for the base from no less than 3 pirate ships: 1 heavy cruiser, and 2 frigates. A pirate heavy cruiser is a rare sight indeed.

Somehow the cruiser is staying put, cloaked, while the two frigates / raiders are suicidal, charging the freighters as I increased speed to intercept. And quickly the two frigates are destroyed.

I then approached the heavy cruiser, who stayed under cloak, but is nonetheless heading for the base at a sedate speed of 8. And I slowly followed from behind, ready to pounce.

And I followed it to the base, where it attacked a freighter ANYWAY, so I killed it.

Got a promotion to the rank of captain.

Got a mission from Special Task Force

Mission: Testing Ground.

USS Dukain has a special subspace damper that needs to be tested. Tractor it into place, then deal with any intruders.

So we did that, and killed two pirate frigates.

Then USS Boston, a destroyer, arrived on the scene. We dealt with more pirates.

Wait... WT... USS Boston is hijacking the Dukain! I started a tractor tug of war, which I know I'd win. I started shooting at the Boston to bring down its shields, but it did not stop.

I had no choice but to destroy it.

Starfleet was not too pleased. They want to know WHY USS Boston turned on me, and we can't interrogate space debris. I guess I *could* have tried to capture it...

Then it's time to check what other missions are out there...
