(CCPlays) A-SPEC: First Assault -- Space Gunboat Combat | Early Preview | First Look
1A-SPEC First Assault is a new space combat game derived from author's first game, called Absolute Territory, which was a Wing Commander clone. This time, you are commanding something quite a bit larger, a corvette, with multiple turrets as well as spinal weapons, and possibly torpedoes in the future. As you move a bit slower, but with more guns. maneuver and tactics become a bit more important.
As of now, there is only one friendly craft, the Kherson corvette, which has two spinal mount heavy weapons, 1 launcher (no weapon yet), as well as 5 turrets around the ship that fire automatically, and they can be outfitted with a variety of weapons, from blasters to autocannons, and they cover different arcs.
As of now, the game feels a bit like jousting with minor corrections having a big effect. Each ship accelerates to very high velocities and rush past enough other, trading shots, then turn around and try again, and again. I don't find this desirable, but that's why there is this early test.
There are two test scenarios. Playtest1 is a simple duel, while playtest2 is a gauntlet... Survive for 500 seconds, how many kills can you rack up?
Right now, the weapons are either too powerful or not powerful enough.
The author is on Discord and if you ask nicely and/or have bought Absolute Territory you'll get invited to the preview where you can influence this game, which is obviously, still in VERY early stages of balancing and development.
