10-OCT-1984 Murmansk, USSR
I've upgraded to Victor II, and I was supposed to search for a submarine that is ready to break into the Barents Sea. I dodged several NATO ASW groups.
12-OCT-1984 Between Greenlands Sea and Barents Sea
We intercepted a submarine contact. However, we can't find it again. We had to disengage after several circles of active pinging.
Received message from HQ that our convoy was attacked and I had failed to find the sub.
New orders... destroy yet ANOTHER NATO carrier battlegroup.
14-OCT-1984 Norwegian sea, just east of Torshavn
We intercepted the battlegroup.
We found the Nimitz, along with 2 Spruances, 1 Knox, 1 County, 1 Type 42, 1 Adams, and 1 Ticonderoga.
We engaged the escorts with an opening barrage of torpedoes when the distance reached 10 km. County and Knox went down. Nimitz took a hit, then Spruance died. Adams and the 2nd Spruance are sunk, leaving just the Ticonderoga, Type 42, and the Nimitz.
However, by this time, Nimitz had opened the range to over 20 km, and even the 65-76 gets a bit wonky at this distance. I managed to work my way past the Type 42 and the Ticon, after dodging like ten torpedoes, screwed up launching the decoy and jammed 2 of my torpedo tubes, taking a few hits. Then finally made it to the Nimitz, and sank her.
Got another medal, as HQ's pleased. And had to return to Murmansk, used most of my torpedoes.
15-OCT-1984 Murmansk, USSR
Did some repairs to unjam the torpedo tubes, and reloaded the torpedoes.
The next order is to go back to the shores of Narvik and try to intercept NATO sub carrying commandos. to sabotage our work there.
As I said before, we need 700 prestige to get a Sierra, and 800 to get an Akula. I'm a little short.
And the war continues in the next episode.
