(CCPlays) Cold Waters (Dot Mod): Custom Mission 2000 -- Ticonderoga CG vs multiple DDGs
One of fun things with dotMod is you can play surface ships now, and I decided to use the mission editor to test just this!
Let's mess with the editor a bit. To make things more equal, let's pit 3-5 CGs and DDGs against 1 Ticonderoga. How would this go?

In an area just south of Taiwan, a long Ticonderoga (Late) guided missile cruiser is patrolling.
The Ticon had just detected multiple surface contacts approaching

As soon the radar's turned on and contacts to the north is detected, they started lobbying Anti-ship missiles.
I left the air defense on auto, which means it will launch missiles as it see fit to handle all incoming vampires (ASMs). Remember, you only have like 30+ Standards and they have more ASMs than you do SAMs, so you have to let chaff and CIWS do some of the work.
The enemy fleet turned out to be 4 DDGs, 2x Udaloy, 1 Luda, and 1 Luhu.
I launched all eight Harpoons, but they converged on a single target, the closest Udaloy. And the closest ship (Luhu) started launching interceptors as well. We ended up getting 4 hits out of 8 launched. But if I had only launched 4 I doubt we'd have gotten a single hit. Anyway, the rest would have to be killed with old-fashioned gunwork.
As I continue to close the Luda started lobbing ASMs. But they were quickly intercepted as well. The problem is I am down to 5 SAMs, and I know two ships have yet to fire their ASM salvos.
As I closed to 26 km to the Luda, Luhu, further north, started launching its own ASMs. And soon I am out of SAMs.
I turned broadside to the threat to expose both CIWS turrets, then start popping chaff as the ASM got closer. I also started firing VLS manually one at a time, with SAMs which means they will go after the ASMs, if you give them enough room.
We have by now closed to less than 20 km and the gun duel begins in earnest, but even with two front turrets, they can't beat two American cannons as I turned to cross their T, exposing both fore and aft turrets to engage.
WIth this, I was able to demolish all 3 ships after spending over 500 rounds of 5 inch munitions, all of the ready-rack SAMs, and some from the internal storage.
