(CCPlays) Cold Waters (Dot Mod): Ticonderoga CG vs Kirov BCG and Kiev CVGH (Custom Mission 2000)
One of fun things with dotMod is you can play surface ships now, and I decided to use the mission editor to test just this!
Let's mess with the editor a bit. To make things more equal, how does a Ticonderoga match up with a Kirov BCG AND a Kiev Cruiser-carrier?
------
Radar on, and there's an intermittent contact to the west. Then another. A bit too far for ID, as sea state is rainy and stormy.
Then a ton of launch transients.
Air defense on auto, AEGIS on, and SAMs are launched automatically.
Then I salvoed our 8 Harpoons on reciprocal heading. And they launched their own interceptors.
No hits on either side, but their ASMs kept coming, and we keep knocking them down.
Until the VLS bank ran empty, and the ASMs kept coming.
Chaff is popped when needed, and a few of the RIM-155's are popped toward the enemy for long range interceptions. CIWS handled the rest.
Kiev is in front, Kirov a few klicks behind her. No matter. Opened fire with cannon at range 22 km. I turned to cross their T and to expose the rear cannon as well. Boom-boom! Boom-boom!
Kiev would still occasionally fire an ASM or two, but they are easily handled.
Then a lookout reported smoke on the Kiev. One of our hits did cause damage below.
I ordered the speed reduced to 15 kts, as they are not shooting back.
More shots landed. Then in a big explosion, Kiev is no more.
I ordered the guns to switch to Kirov, as it had fired several ASMs before. Strangely, Kirov is moving at a reduced speed, and it did not turn to bring its cannons into play. It simply sat there until enough hits send it to the bottom to join the Kiev.
