Chicory A Colorful Tale Gameplay Chapter 2 - Blueberry and the fight against Darkness in Supper Wood
1Chicory: A Colorful Tale is a 2D adventure RPG video game created by American-Canadian indie developer Greg Lobanov and published by Finji. It features an anthropomorphic dog with a magical paintbrush, which is used to color the game world. Lobanov is best known for his previous work on Wandersong. It released for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on June 10, 2021.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale, or Chicory, is an adventure role-playing video game set characters are small anthropomorphic animals. The player takes the role of an anthropomorphic dog whose name is the player's favorite food. The world they explore is black and white, but can be painted using The Brush, a large paintbrush. The paintbrush can also be used to solve environmental puzzles.
The game takes place in the world of Picnic. The player character is a dog who works as a janitor in the Wielder's tower. One day while cleaning the tower, the color disappears, leaving the world black and white. The dog goes to Chicory's room to ask her about the disappearance and finds the door locked, with the Brush left outside. The protagonist takes the Brush, and leaves the tower, helping to fix problems and color in Luncheon.
The main character meets Blueberry in the forest at the right side of Luncheon (I'm sucks at pointing out if it's east or west side). Blueberry was a Wielder of the older generation but also Chicory's teacher (More like overstrict teacher and perfectionist judging from the way she talk to every new Wielders: Her student and Chocolate). Blueberry told Chocolate to follow her into the Supper Wood south of the current area. Without the map, it's hard for me to point out where I'm going to but....seems like Blueberry lived in Supper Wood. There is also a phone booth besides Blueberry's house that can be useful for asking your parents about what to do in case Chocolate forgot what he or she must do (I would prefer to use both pronouns since I don't know about what should I call the main character). East (Probably) side of Blueberry's house...there is a gigantic dead tree among the small dead trees with big hole. The hole seems to lead to the darkness corrupting the other areas near the giant tree. Blueberry told Chocolate that this was what she wanted to show. Afterward, Blueberry ramble or rather complain so much about Chocolate and lastly about Chicory's reason to give his brush to Chocolate the janitor so much that she was taken by the Darkness for letting her guard down. When Blueberry taken by the Darkness, it finally reveal its form. Be ready for Boss Fight!
The Darkness appears as giant Eye that shoot a beam in a straight forewarning pattern and the only way to hurt it is the paint from the Wielder's Brush (Don't worry, I set the main character's life to never fall down just to relax and enjoy this game not for challenge so Chocolate has unlimited lives during and outside of boss fight). As the Eye, it will summon several small eyes that shoots needle from its outer line. All you need to do is finding a way to close all the small eyes with the Brush's color. When the small eyes closed twice, the main giant Eye will open and invulnerable while a white straight pattern of its beam attack will follow Chocalate to hurt him or her. Take note that all enemies are invulnerable to damage if they are covered in white color. It took several hits from the Brush to beat the Eye and shift into final phase. When the main Eye hurt, the small eyes will open instead and shoots beam in straight homing pattern on Chocolate. It's still an easy boss fight based on the attack pattern (Should be easy in case I set Chocolate's life to whatever number of life I wished for him). Once you figured out the pattern, it's easy to beat this boss.
After the boss fight, Chocolate seems to black out from the shock and relief before the game open a new chapter.
