Chrono Trigger - Ch. 27 - The Fated Hour (Part 3 - Robo & Marle)
CHAPTER 27 - THE FATED HOUR (PART 3 - ROBO & MARLE)
This chapter will finish off the side-quests for 'The Fated Hour', leaving only the Black Omen before finally proceeding to the game's final chapter, 'The Final Battle'. In this chapter, we'll cover the side-quests for Robo and Marle.
ROBO'S SIDE-QUEST:
"There's a task to be done in the Future, where machinery originated."
Speak with Robo in the End of Time and he'll wonder if he too has a hometown. It will pan to an area in 2300 AD that hasn't been explored yet, the Geno Dome, located in the southeast corner of the map. You will need Robo to be in the lead in order to get past the entrance. You'll proceed to a room with a conveyor belt, where you'll have to fight about 5 battles back-to-back. This shouldn't give you much trouble, but as always, keep an eye on your HP.
In this next room, head to the center and use the computer, which will explain everything you need to know. Use the pod next to it to charge up Robo and unlock doors by having him enter the pod next to them. Additionally, you must reverse the conveyor belt in this room and find two Poyozo dolls. This is not too challenging. There is another floor upstairs. Here you will meet 'Atropos', Robo's girlfriend. After a lengthy dialogue, Robo will have to fight her alone.
Atropos - 6,000 HP
You can finish this fairly quickly, using your strongest techs and healing as needed. You'll receive Atropos' Ribbon, which will raise your speed and magic defense. Make sure to grab all the treasures here, as you won't be able to return afterwards. You'll see a room blocked by red lasers. You'll notice there's a switch right next to it, but it's too high to reach. Have Robo run towards the switch and he'll leap to press it. In this room is a very valuable 'Megalixir', so don't forget it. Place the Poyozo dolls in their designated spots and you'll proceed to fight Mother Brain.
Mother Brain - 5,000 HP, Display (x3) - 1 HP
The displays in the background will heal Mother Brain multiple times per turn. So you want to kill all but one. If you kill all three, the fight gets a bit tougher. So just leave one and deal with the constant healing. I equipped Robo with the Silver Rock, to use the 'Spin Strike' triple tech. This should kill Mother Brain off in a few turns. For your troubles, you'll get the 'Terra Arm', Robo's best weapon and the 'Crisis Arm', which deals damage according to Robo's HP.
MARLE'S SIDE-QUEST:
"There's an object in the Middle Ages that sparkles like a rainbow..."
This quest starts by bringing Marle back to Guardia Castle in 1000 AD. The Chancellor will sow seeds of drama between Marle and the King by insinuating that the King's neglect killed the late Queen. He'll also suggest that you bring him some jerky, which will infuriate him due to his blood pressure. Additionally, if you haven't done so already, visit Toma in the Chorras Tavern in 600 AD. He'll tell you he found the Rainbow Shell and will give you 'Toma Spirits' to pour on his grave, in case he doesn't make it.
Now in 1000 AD, Toma's grave will be northwest of Chorras. He'll tell you that the Rainbow Shell is in Giant's Claw, located northwest of his grave in 600 AD. Here, you'll find the remains of the Tyrano Lair. As you proceed and grab treasures, you'll stumble upon the 'Rust Tyrano', a rehash of the Black Tyrano you fought in 63M BC.
Rust Tyrano - 25000 HP
The Ruby Armor comes in handy here, as he'll countdown to a fire-based attack. But all in all, this shouldn't cause you much trouble. Afterwards, you'll find the Rainbow Shell, which is too heavy to move without help. You'll then go to Guardia Castle in 600 AD and ask the royals to keep the Rainbow Shell at the castle for safe-keeping.
Now in 1000 AD, you'll return to Guardia Castle to find the King is being accused of selling the Rainbow Shell by the Chancellor. The Chancellor dares you to find proof that the Rainbow Shell is still there, so we'll head to the new basement vault. You'll face some ridiculously easy monsters from the early part of the game and then take a Rainbow Shard back as proof. The Chancellor is really 'Yakra XIII', whom you'll now fight.
Yakra XIII - 18000 HP
This guy is stronger than the original, but you're way stronger at this point. Watch out for his final attack, when his HP reaches zero. It'll do 200-300 damage and unfortunately took out my Lucca. You'll receive another valuable Megalixir when the battle ends. As Marle and the King make amends, Melchior will arrive and offer to use the Rainbow Shell to make some goodies. You'll have to pick between a Prismatic Dress and three Prismatic Helms. He'll also make a pair of Prismatic Specs. Finally, if you've already got the Sun Stone, he'll also make the Rainbow Sword, Crono's ultimate weapon.
Now that we've taken care of all that, it's time to proceed to the Black Omen!
