Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

Version being played: 0.4.4

With the Rainbow Shell safely in Guardia's hands in 600 AD, let's take a look in the castle 400 years later and see if anyone's pulled an epic heist to pilfer it.

The Chancellor greets the party at the entrance and mentions some of the bad blood between the king & Marle. He then tells us to go talk to the king and get the full story from his mouth. That's great, but the throne room is locked down until the trial ends.

Only real place you can explore is to the east where there's three staircases. There's one doorway with two staircases going both directions. The one leading down brings you to the kitchen while the one going up leads towards the courtroom.

There's two chests you can examine on the way to court. One can be opened for a Hyper Ether while the other is mysteriously locked.

In the courtroom...turns out the king's being tried for selling the Rainbow Shell for money. Marle & friends bust in, but are quickly told to find proof of the king's innocence and are shoved out.

If the king is innocent, the Rainbow Shell should be tucked away in the basement. Backtrack to the three staircases next to each other, then take the one on the eastern most side to head down to the basement. Not much to do besides grab some consumables from chests and bat aside enemies.

Once you've grabbed a Prism Shard and see a letter from Marle's mother, return to the courtroom, but before talking to the guards again, make sure everyone has a way to block the chaos ailment.

After talking to the guards and realizing they still won't budge, Marle knows of an alternate way into the courtroom as another cutscene takes over.

As it turns out, the king's been found guilty, but before any kind of sentencing goes down, Marle enters in a pretty slick way...breaking through the stained glass in the back of the courtroom. She immediately shows the Prism Shard, completely and uttering destroying the Chancellor;s fake plan.

The real plan? Revenge for his ancestors. He starts his transformation boost, meaning we know all too well where this is going. Yakra's got an ancestor and boy does he need a beatdown for the terrible plan of revenge he tried to pull off.

Yakra XIII goes all in with needle spam with the version 13 variant of it...which literally just hits much harder with no extra ailments attached.

The catch? If he says "Yes indeed!", he'll extend the needle attack to the whole party. 200-250 damage doesn't seem like the worst, but all my characters have defense scores in the 160s or higher.

Past the needles though, all Yakra XIII does is potentially inflict chaos on a target. Do keep your hps at a safe level to take a party wide needle attack though because the boss will do one final needle salvo before going down for good.

After the battle, the king & Marle talk about their mother and everyone goes back to the throne room. Doesn't take long before Melchior comes to crash the party. His goal? Make weapons from the Rainbow Shell. Sounds like a plan!

Before heading to the basement to see what Melchior's going to craft, explore the castle because there's some chests around with several high end consumables. Head to the courtroom after you're done because there's a key the boss dropped. That locked chest you saw on the way to the courtroom? That's what the key opens and inside...the real chancellor. Yakra XIII REALLY didn't think his whole plan through, didn't he?

Upon heading to the basement to speak with Melchior. He gives you the choice of picking between 3 Prism Helms or 1 Prism Dress. Trust me, pick the dress because it halves all elemental damage and grants auto-shield.

...Oh yes, despite it being female only, Robo can equip it. I'm not complaining because it gives him a much better chance to survive elemental attacks that might have otherwise one shotted him.

The Prism Dress alone would have been a great reward for this sidequest, but there's more. If you completed the Sun Stone sidequest, Melchior decides to tinker with that and create two pieces of equipment for you.

First up, the Rainbow is Crono's ultimate weapon and slightly nerfed from vanilla, sporting a 50% crit rate instead of its 70% from vanilla. Still very very good for Crono though.

However, that gets overshadowed by the best accessory in the entire game, the Prism Specs. The Prism Specs increase the wearer's damage by 50%. For me, this is going on Robo and never coming off of him ever.

One final sidequest remains before we tackle the final dungeon!
