Exit Fate #1 - Introduction
Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.
The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Time to finally get started on a game I've been wanting to show off for quite awhile.
SCF's Last Scenario game was a case of taking a typical setting and throwing some twists into the mix. In Exit Fate's case, it's basically a love letter to the Suikoden series which we'll see very quickly.
One last thing before we get started...Last Scenario used stock RPGMaker music for its tunes, something I never knew when I played that game. Exit Fate, understandably, takes a different route by using tunes from a wide variety of SNES & PSX era games.
Now then, story time!
The game opens on a rainy day with a man walking around until a doctor comes in to tell him he's going to be a father not once, but twice. This does come at the cost of his wife passing away due to an illness, something that clearly seems to shake him.
With that, a very Xenogears-esque wall of dialogue begins (and rather appropriately, the song playing here is from said game). The gist of it is that two nations, the Kirgard Kingdom and the State Union of Zelmony, are going full steam towards peace going out the window. The main point of conflict? Helman Island, a disputed area that's been claimed by both sides with ownership changing hands over the centuries.
The kicker? Helman Island is in a strategic position between both nations. Kirgard is not about to just regain control of the island alone. It's going to take it one step further and go for a full blown invasion.
The wheels of fate will begin to turn when a surprise attack is carried out on the port city of Jargo courtesy of the so-called Red General known as Jovian Knight. Before then though, we'll have to see how this all begins for ourselves roughly four weeks before the mission.
How does it all begin? Seeing several dead people as the camera pans over to the man who likely did the dirty deed. It gets even more creepy when the man's face turns slightly to the right with one hell of a grin when suddenly...the scene switches to a man in bed.
This man, Daniel Vinyard, has been having nightmares such as the one seen increase in frequency as of late, possibly due to stress from the looming war coming up in four weeks.
Before he gets a chance to process this nightmare, a close friend of his, Angel Windsor, knocks at his door. Evidently he was sleeping in and has to make a quick exit out of bed into his usual attire. You gain control here as chapter 1 kicks off and can opt to save your game using the crystal in the room.
Outside of Daniel's room, he & Angel have a chat about the upcoming war. Turns out Daniel's not so much into this whole invasion arc Kirgard wants to instigate, but he doesn't want to ruin the mood when he's around friends.
As Angel joins the party, the goal is to the meeting hall. After the sudden death of one General Russel, the higher ups have been rushing to find a replacement in time for the operation...very very likely being Jovian Knight.
As you gain control, there's several people to chat it up with on the way to the meeting hall. Most just comment on the upcoming mission, but there's one guy who offers a very important service, the ability to upgrade weapons. You get to choose which of three stats (Atk, Hit, or Crt) to enhance. Each upgrade takes some Arn, Exit Fate's currency.
Some more exploring and our duo runs into a rather...charming fellow by the name of Bruce. Turns out him & Daniel get along about as well as fire & water do...which is to say not very well. The squabble gets intense enough for one of the Kirgard generals, Keyser, to come in and break the argument up.
On the plus side, this little squabble bought us enough time for the meeting hall to open up for us to go to. From this location, it's just one screen east, then all the way north, running into another of Kirgard's generals, Leonius, on the way. Seems like he's got his doubts about Jovian getting his promotion.
Inside the hall are the last of Kirgard's generals, the newly promoted Jovian along with Eander. Jovian's only got four weeks to get his third legion into fighting shape for the upcoming mission, but first...he's going to celebrate with Daniel & Angel and he knows the perfect spot.
One cutscene later, the trio's at that spot and have a long chat about this upcoming war. Who knows what'll happen, but one thing worth noting...all three hail from the same town, Levier.
After some more of Daniel expressing his disagreement with this war, Jovian's dungeon sense goes off and he runs to a cave entrance with the others right behind him.
Next time...combat!
