This is a comparative test video of the Creative Vado HD 4GB White/Green Pocket Digital Camcorder (in VGA quality setting) in a low light environment. In order to compare and contrast the video and audio capture qualities of this device versus the Flip Mino HD 4GB 1HR Silver FVM3160S-RM Digital Video Camcorder in a low light environment, this video capture was taken while holding both devices at the exact same time.
It should be noted that although the Flip Mino HD One Hour does not have the ability to set a different quality setting and shoots by default in 720p, I still choose to compare it in this lighting environment to but the VGA quality setting (the worst quality setting) of the Creative Vado HD 4GB, simply because I am looking to compare the video and audio quality of these two devices at their lowest quality settings, and am not looking for a true 720p versus 720p quality comparison. If you are looking to compare the different 720p capabilities of these two devices, I recommend you watch these three videos:

Video on the Flip Mino HD One Hour was encoded by the device using the H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) video codec, producing a .MP4 video file. The audio records in stereo and uses the MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) codec at 44100 Hz. It produces videos with a video resolution of 1280 X 720 at 60 frames per second (FPS). This comparative test video weighed in at 96,915 kb of disk space for 1 minute 20 seconds of video.
Video on the Creative Vado HD 4GB (in VGA quality setting) was encoded by the device using the H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (H264) video codec, producing an .AVI video file. The audio records in mono and uses the MS ADPCM audio (ms) codec at 44100 Hz, 16 bits per sample. The VGA quality setting produced a video resolution of 640 X 480 at 30 frames per second (FPS) and weighed in at 21,648 kb of disk space for 1 minute 20 seconds of video.
The Flip Mino HD One Hour comes out on top as far as video clarity, illumination in low-light environments, colour correction, frame rate, capture of LCD backlit screens, capture of CRT screens, audio loudness and audio clarity goes. However, this comes at quite the expense as far as 'file size per capture time' ratio goes, with the Flip Mino HD One Hour's video weighing in at over four times the file size of the video produced by the Creative Vado HD 4GB (in VGA quality setting) for the same amount of shot video time. This being said, with both devices having 4GB's of onboard storage space, technically the Creative Vado HD 4GB (in VGA quality setting) would be able to hold much more video than the Flip Mino HD One Hour would, with the Creative Vado HD 4GB (in VGA quality setting) allowing for 4 hours 8 minutes of video before maxing out, and with the Flip Mino HD One Hour maxing out at...well...one hour of captured video (thus the use of 'One Hour' in its title).
