Up next is Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. At first I wasn't going to do this game because it uses FMOD and doesn't support true spatialization, but subscriber Sean Gatchell requested it. Cryostasis is somewhat of a cult classic Eurojank horror game by the makers of Chasm: The Rift, Vivisector, and the Carnivores series. It was created with PhysX cards in mind and it shows: this game runs like shit on modern hardware. Shader Model 4.0 is actually broken outright because Action Forms went out of business before they could patch the game into a 100% working state.
I'm just gonna say this right now: Cryostasis is scarier than 95% of the games you'll be seeing this Halloween marathon.
Cryostasis is a bit of an oddity because it's one of a handful of games to use FMOD's hardware acceleration capabilities. Like Bioshock 1, it uses OpenAL for EAX effects. The virtual surround sound is fucking terrible, but the EAX effects are actually a huge improvement over Bioshock's. They actually make use of Occlusion effects which you can hear at 18:50.
