Daytona USA (Saturn) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sega's 1995 racing game arcade port for the Sega Saturn, Daytona USA.
Played through all three races on the normal difficulty level in Saturn mode. Winning those three races in Saturn mode unlocks the horse as a "vehicle," so I did another play of the first track using the horse just to show it off. I like how you hear his hooves yet he still makes tire squealing noises in the corners.
At the end of each race on the name entry screen I also put in some fun initials to show off a couple of neat easter eggs.

What an absolutely classic game. Even with this rushed-out-the-door, somewhat less than optimal port, the launch edition of Daytona USA managed to keep the spirit of the arcade racer alive and kicking. The graphics, though far more jagged and lower resolution than the original, still do provide a fair approximation of the original, and the music has actually been improved in the move to CD. The controls are just as responsive as they've always been, but if you find the wheel being too twitchy, stop using the digital controller! The racing wheel and the 3D pad both work just fine with it, and the analog steering just overall makes for a much more fun experience. The turns are the focus, and learning them all is a load of fun - as long as you aren't using a D-pad.
While it was improved significantly in its rerelease (the Circuit Edition) a couple of years later, this is still my go-to Daytona. You really can't beat the original soundtrack.
