Dead Space - One Minute Game Review
One minute review of Dead Space:
Your job is to repair the space ship USG Ishimura, but things twist soon, as you find out that the ship is infested by space monsters and homicidal maniacs! The art style and the graphics still hold up today, and are able to establish a tense and scary atmosphere along with the design of sound, music, enemies, and placement of each item or enemy in the game. Dead Space keeps you on the edge with its tension buildups and foreshadowing, the game likes to play with your mind. The weapons and tools are believable for Isaac's role as an engineer, and are also very fun to use thanks to the primary and secondary fire options. There isn' t any traditional HUD, all the information is shown to the player through Isaac himself, and this makes the game far more immersive and scary. Resource management is critical for survival and is yet another feature that builds up the game's atmosphere. Vacuum areas muffle sounds and amplify the fear of unknown. 0G areas offer a fun variation of the base formula and everything makes sense and is believable - story and characters included!
