Description:
Cloud is an ex-SOLDIER turned mercenary, who accepts a job from Avalanche, an eco-terrorist group that opposes his former employer. Avalanche believes that Shinra's Mako Reactors will drain Gaia of its Lifestream, dooming the environment in the process. Unfortunately, the ultimate SOLDIER Sephiroth resurfaces after his apparent death, threatening all life on the planet once more.

Barret and the other Avalanche members are already there. I don't know if those other guys are directly part of Avalanche or the town guard, but one of them actually calls Shinra fascist pricks before they gun him down. Absolute legend.

They block our way once again, but the tactics to beat them remain the same. I took the time to master Aerith's Lustrous Shield, since this is her last fight before leaving the party for a long time.
6:17 Sector 7 Slums
Wedge falls from the pillar, but somehow survived despite this killing him in the OG. Cloud will have to solo the first part of the pillar unfortunately.
8:25 Sector 7 Slums Pillar
Since Aerith won't be fighting anymore this chapter, I moved Magnify over to Cloud so that he can crowd-control a little better. It's viable on the first couple of floors due to the abundance of MP crates.
We see Biggs dying while a bunch of Spectres loom over him.
18:25 Sector 7 Slums
Wedge wakes up and convinces the Shinra infantryman to let the residents evacuate.
Aerith finds Marlene in the bar, but Tseng shows up to capture her and bring her to Shinra for her Ancient heritage.
32:43 Sector 7 Slums Pillar
Tifa joins, but for a few floors, you'll have to deal with Reno's gunfire. Unlike me, you should switch Cloud over to a Synergy build to save on MP, since MP crates get scarcer as you go up.
Jessie dies like in the OG, but with the Spectres seemingly involved.
Before going up, prepare Barret's gear and make sure Cloud has Synergy Wind.
At the top, Reno almost activates the plate separation, but decides to put it off until he defeats the party.
45:43 Boss: Reno and Rude
Reno will be on the ground using stronger versions of his previous moves while Rude shoots at you with the helicopter. After Reno takes enough damage, he'll temporarily retreat while Rude does a bombing run. Rude will then reenter and use his infamous pyramid trap, which could make a solo run problematic.
Once Reno is knocked low enough, he'll become untargetable, leaving Rude in his helicopter as the only target. Once Rude takes enough damage, the helicopter will crash and he'll fight on the ground alongside Reno.
Note that they can be put to sleep, which could help isolate one of them for a beating before finishing off the other. Also, Reno will get pressured if you block the first hit of his Wild Swings, which means he will most likely fall first. Afterwards, Rude will fall easily to Synergy Aero spam.
50:31 Sector 7 Slums Pillar
Reno is knocked unconscious, but Rude gets up and makes a beeline for the console. Unfortunately, the Spectres block any attempt to stop him, leading to the plate separation anyways. Tseng announces on the screen that he captured Aerith, though he may have spared Marlene.
You have 30 seconds to get to the zipline and escape the pillar. Cait Sith pounds the ground in despair, meaning Reeve must have attempted to stop it. Maybe the Spectres stalled him too?
55:51 Wall Market
Sephiroth mocks Cloud for failing again, as if this happened before.
Unfortunately, we can't do much here because of the Shinra infantry, but you can talk to the trio.

You can now buy Gothic Bangle, which has balanced stats and a decent number of slots.
Chadley is here with new intel reports and a new boss.

TBH, I probably could have staggered it faster in the first phase if I switched to Cloud more often and used Braver to try to get it pressured, but it's also risky because he has less mobility than Tifa. I did pull off some decent Stagger combos though.
