Description:
Cloud is an ex-SOLDIER turned mercenary, who accepts a job from Avalanche, an eco-terrorist group that opposes his former employer. Avalanche believes that Shinra's Mako Reactors will drain Gaia of its Lifestream, dooming the environment in the process. 0:00 Recap
0:16 Sector 5 Slums
Someone fitting Marco's description was seen near the kids' hideout. Beyond their hideout is an encounter zone where you have to fight through some familiar mobs. Once you bring the kids back safe and sound, they start mass-producing wooden Buster Swords out of respect for Cloud. If only Angeal could see this.
The cloaked man isn't Marco and has a different number from him, but Sephiroth still uses him to communicate with Cloud.
Oates asks us to do sidequests for the town.
11:42 The Mysterious Moogle Merchant
You can spend Moogle Medals now, but you might not have enough to buy everything unique yet. Fortunately, there will be a quest coming up soon that makes it easy to farm medals.
16:06 Sector 5 Slums
16:39 Kids on Patrol
You have to remind the kids with buster swords to return to Ms. Folia at the Leaf House.
After you do so, the kids want us to defeat a miniboss that popped up near their base.
23:06 Miniboss: Hedgehog Pie King
Unlike me, you should take out the mooks with blizzard spells first and save assessing for after the boss is isolated.
25:34 Kids on Patrol
28:04 Sector 5 Slums
If you've done all the quests up to this point, you should have enough variant monsters logged for the intel report. Chadley gives you the Synergy Materia, which is buffed in the Intergrade version to no longer require MP or ATB.
28:16 Weapons on a Rampage
Due to the destruction of the reactor, 5 stronger variants of the Monodrives are on the loose. I feel like at least some of the quests are just Cloud cleaning up Avalanche's mess, which is probably why he won't refuse.
The Monodrives can switch between being immune to physical or magic, so make sure everyone has Aero. They like to move out of combos, so Triple Slash is the best way to damage them once they'r vulnerable to physicals.
33:19 Sector 5 Slums
34:16 A Verified Hero
You have to get at least 10000 in the Whack-a-Box minigame to clear the quest. Afterwards, you can continue replaying it for more prizes and Moogle Medals. If you simply let the timer run to 0 without doing anything, you still get Moogle Medals, which can be a good way to farm it without relying on crate RNG.
43:31 Paying Respects
44:35 Miniboss: Venomantis x3
45:52 Paying Respects
48:10 The Angel of the Slums
You have to help Damon the reporter find info on the Angel of the Slums, an infamous Robin Hood thief. An old woman, Mireille Dudley, tells us that the thief's hideout is in Lookout Point, but a boss monster took up residence there.
53:17 Miniboss: Chromogger
This is much stronger than the other variant type enemies we had to face in this chapter. You need to use physical attacks on its main body to pressure it and magic (including Aerith normal attack and Tempest) on its iron ball arm to stagger it. If a physical attack hits the iron ball at all, it bounces and leave your character open. The boss can also spew lingering pools of gas that can inflict silence and stun, making it impossible to position your characters efficiently if you let it happen. Therefore, it's in your best interest to pressure and stagger it before it comes to that. A drawn-out battle with it really sucks!
54:33 The Angel of the Slums
We find the calling card, but Damon runs off for the next scoop without paying us. Fortunately, Mireille already stole 2000 gil from him and just gives it to us as the quest reward. I guess no one would expect an ordinary granny to be the angel.
