SCRIPT:
Today we are going to talk about devs speaking on the new 1.4.3 beta release, questions surrounding the new content and more.
Bannerlord Forums Link - https://bit.ly/2YQdTXh
- First we have a dev replying to a player asking if the 1.4.3 beta
is the update with the code refactor included.
Devs confirm that this is the update with the code refactor.
- Second we have a player asking what the multiplayer change stating
"Matchmaker now balances teams after arranging a match" actually means.
Devs state that it works in theory, but since there is no ranked system yet,
there is a temporary solution. Balancing of teams is based on players
previous games and parties will not be split up.
I personally cant wait for ranked and some of the other multiplayer changes
that are coming. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, so for players who have, let
me know your experience and how you like it.
- Third we have devs making a statement about why the patch is over
15gb for some players. Devs state that they pack resources together for
better runtime performance which means the whole file is updated if any
changes are made. Also there were change to meshes, animations and some larger files.
For me it was only 4.1gb and i was on 1.4.2 before the update. When i revert to any earlier version like 1.3, the update file to get me back up to date is always bigger, so that is why players are having different sizes when it comes to the new update.
- Fourth we have a player making a un true statement and the devs came in with the receipts. The player states that the devs lied about multiplayer changes coming this update.
The devs then take their original statement and repost it in a reply and the
statement shows that the devs stated in the upcoming weeks multiplayer changes are coming, not next patch. Also devs ask for a little more patience and that some great changes are coming to multiplayer very soon.
I really like that the devs came with the receipts because i have a good
feeling that the small minority of trolls would come out and start bashing
the devs again and use that statement the player made as a spark to their
flame. Also the multiplayer devs stated that the extensive changes to
multiplayer are not coming this patch, but the next upcoming patches.
- Fifth we have a player asking about the code refactor and its impact
because the player had mods and they still work, which is surprising.
The dev that replied stated that the code refactor did not touch huge parts
of the code, it was actually a small refactor that took 1-2 days to do. The
problem was that a lot of bugs occurred because those small parts were
interconnected to alot of other code. Also a lot of internal tests were done
so that helped with bugs and this caused mods to still work, not all mods, but a lot of them. Also state that the devs are ready to react to any new bugs that come out when they do.
I understand what the devs mean and it was unfortunate that such a small
process got extended for so long and it cause so much tension between devs and players and probably other devs. But we are past it now and hopefully all goes good and we can continue to improve the game!
- Sixth we a player asking if the locked icon on perks mark the perks as
not working or non implemented.
Devs reply that the lock icons showup when the game cannot find an icon to use for the perk, purely just an icon, nothing to do with the perk working or not.
- Seventh we have a player asking about the multiplayer dev blog and when a new one will be released.
Devs stated that a new one will be released when the multiplayer patch is
ready. Devs state that the content is finalized, testing should finish this
week and the rest depends on the pipeline.
I think the pipeline means that when all the devs decide they are ready to
release a new big patch, the multiplayer changes will be released then.
That is all the statements and replies for now and if anything new comes up, i will make a video and keep you guys informed.
Lastly i am going to end this video in the same way i ended most update
and dev talk videos, i want to thank the developers for staying active and
bringing good changes.
